Kids not meet dp parents

Have been with dp 7 years and living together 4 years . In all that time my children 17@18 have not meet his parents .

My dc recently said to me they think it’s weird . I raised it with dp he just shrugged his shoulders . Is this weird ?

It seems unusual after that amount of time, yes. Why haven't they met?

They don’t travel and he never wanted to take them . Now it just seems to be too long a time and a bit awkward .

It’s not great but not unusual. Plenty of people don’t consider stepkids family, especially ones that join the family when they’re older. Don’t worry too much about it.

How often do you see his parents? Do they ever come to your house? (I'm assuming that the kids live with you)

goldengummybear · 31/12/2018 00:16

I think it is unusual. My kids have never met ex's gf's parents but in their case, they don't get along with the gf so have only seen her less than 10 times in 7 years.

I probably see them about 4 times a year , they don’t really travel and have come here once . I just wondered how common that was .

Did your DP say why he didn’t want to take your kids with you both on visits?

Molakai · 31/12/2018 19:23

Tbh in that particular scenario it doesn't seem that odd. If they were local and visiting frequently, it would be strange.
I know lots of families would be different - treating your DC like dgc, which isn't odd either. Just different.
