Hi im new on here today. I really need some advice re my 19 year old stepson it all kicked off ladt wednesday when i smelt weed coming from his room. We know he smokes it and refuses to stop but I have always said not in my house! Until now he has never to my knowledge used it whilst here. So my dh has it out with him and and he refuses to stop so my response was either the pot goes, he goes or I take myself and my ds's (13 &10) to stay elsewhere. I really don't want them exposed to this kind of behaviour and yo think that I'm allowing it!
Am I being unreasonable? My stepson has been one moody s**t with me since then and it's got to a point a don't feel comfortable in my own house 😩
This is new for me as me and my dp only moved on together at the end of last year. Any help/advice/tips would be very appreciated!

Sit him down to talk and explain that you don't this around d your younger children. Tell him smoking this is his choice but your younger kids are being made to inhale his fumes!! Tell him, you can't stop him smoking it but you can refuse to allow it in your home. Stay calm, be friendly and see what happens. Good luck.

Not being unreasonable. You have to make a stand it is a family home and not a weed smoking hotel.

Have another word with him together with your DP and lay out what you’ve said. And then if DP refuses to kick him out, I’d move. Your DP needs to grow up too.

Not unreasonable whatsoever. Your house, your rules.

At 19 years old, the boy is an adult. If he doesn’t like the rules he should move out and find a landlord who is happy to accept him smoking drugs in rented accommodation.

Bloody hell I would of gone through the roof .., no you are not over reacting.
