Hi, I have a step-son who is 6 yr old and we just had a visit from EDSS for nappies and teething gel and when the conversation changed to appologising for our son's behaviour becasue he was throwing a tantrum, the man asked us if we got Disability living alowance, we said no and he told us that we could get it because we have to keep a constant eye on the lad and we could get child care allowance aswell, this would be a help if we wanted to take him out to places to ware him out of his energy levels.

I just thought that it would benifit some people out there. Please don't think we are just sponging of the benifit system, my husband is medically retired due to a heart condition and arthritis, i look after my husband and our 6 yr old, plus a 22 month old daughter and 9 month old son. I could not earn enough to pay all the bills and the 6 yr old is too much for anyone to cope with. we do the best we can for our kids and if i could go out to work and earn enough money i would. But nowdays it just isn't possible.

DLA is definitely worth applying for, even though the form is an absolute b*gger to fill in. The good news is that you can still get it even if you're NOT on benefits. We get DLA for our autistic 4yr old.
