Two mums

Just curious, I've noticed on here its almost inexcusable to call someone other than your real mum mum. What do you call your mother in law? Where I'm from we often call her mum and out FIL dad once we get married.

My ex used to call my mum and dad, mum and dad - it was always a bit awkward...

My DP calls my parents mum and dad and they call him son, I see it as a term of endearment and respect. I tried it with an ex's mum and it felt weird though.

I just call her by her name, does DH with my mum.

I don't think there's as much tension over it when you're all adults though as there can be in a situation with separated parents who are uncomfortable about their child being parented by someone they don't know (their ex's new DP)

I call inlaws by the name just didn't feel like to call them anything else

I call mine by their names, my MIL refers to herself as my second/other mum, I find that really strange and dislike it when she does it.

If you're an adult, you can call any other adult by any name/term that you both agree on.

I call my PIL Mum and dad.

By their first names. PIL tried to introduce mum and dad but that just doesn't work for me.

Me and dh refer to mil as Cruella. .

I call MIL Myra- as in Hindley

I call her by her name and she calls me her other daughter. And references herself as my other mum.

Doesn't bother me at all.
