Christmas arrangements

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what you would do in this situation.

Me and my partner live together, I have a DD who is 4 and he has 3 DC who come every weekend.

The thing is he has them over night the day before Christmas Eve and they have a little Christmas together on Christmas Eve, dinner, presents etc.

This year my DD and his youngest DD have asked Santa for the same present, meaning his DD will open the present on Christmas Eve and my daughter will open hers on Christmas Day. This is the fur real unicorn, so not cheap.

Would you let her sit and watch them open presents and play or I don't know, maybe make her a little bag full of smaller goodies?

Any other ideas welcome!

Could he not do it at his parents house or something? Because yes it is a bit mean on your DD (not your fault), having to watch like that.

Why not do just that particular present to both of them on the same day? Then let your DD have the rest of her presents on Christmas? Presents are best when they're spread out a bit, more time to enjoy them.

Thanks for your replies. I did think that purpledasies, but as its her main present I felt a little weird giving it to her on Christmas Eve, but it is an option.

We move Christmas Day on alternate years so we can celebrate it as one family unit.

Bellemere I did think this also, but they're all older and we'd soon get someone who said "it's Christmas tomorrow not today"

I've yet to meet a child of any age who complains at getting presents early. You just say "DSD won't be with us tomorrow, so she's getting her present from us today. Would you like yours too DD? You can wait til tomorrow for the other ones"

My children are celebrating Christmas Day on Christmas Eve again this year. They have done this a few times as my ex (when we were together) works on Christmas Day. It really isn't a big deal, they know they are celebrating a day early and they actually like the fact Christmas comes sooner. This year it is Christmas Eve with me (so our Christmas Day) then Christmas Day with dad as he is not working.
Could your DC not open a few presents with everyone else on Christmas Eve and then celebrate again on the actual day?

Thanks nosmilestoday that's what I'm going to do. Let her open the unicorn on Christmas Eve with everyone else and save the rest for Christmas Day. We're going out for christmas dinner on Christmas Eve too, so will be busy!
