Day trips on the train

My partner has two children (aged 10 and 12) whom he sees every other weekend. I don't have any children myself so am really enjoying the chance to spend time with his.

We have purchased a family railcard and I'm keen for us to go out and about a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions of good family days out in the North wets and Wales that won't cost the earth.

You might get more response on the Travel board - not sure it's a specifically step parent issue...

But have fun with on the days out.
