is there any legal reason that you can not block the calls from an ex?

You can block anyones number it is not illegal. However if children are involved you need another way to communicate such as e-mail.

As long as you don't have a contact order that states anything about allowing telephone contact between your ex and your child, then you can block a number if you want. Yes offer email contact instead to arrange things

We have a number that ex can ring in an emergency only! She also has two other numbers for emergencies only (family member) in the case were are not at home when need be! Contact is set and if any changes then it's discussed at pick up or drop off! We wouldn't have it any other way as EX was turning into a stalker!
