As title really! Been with my bf for about 2.5 years now and all his family have been ok on the whole (his sis is now a great friend!). Had some situations when things have been awkward like the first family gathering and some old school relatives (mostly men over 60) couldn't stop gawping and weren't over keen on me kissing or hugging them....
Interesting questions from the bf mum about our sex life but took this as her just being nosy more than anything else. Bit odd though.
He has a niece who is 14 and I have had some nice chats with her at get togethers. She is that age where she doesn't seem to mind what she says and she sometimes surprised me in her bluntness. She has asked me to go shopping with her and a friend (not sure why as I am waaaay to old for her shops) and would like to go but wonder if it's just because its a bit of a novelty.
i have just said she should ask her mum if its ok which I think it will be. Not sure what she thinks ill bring to the party but touched she has asked.
Should I go for the responsible aunt look or attempt to be a little hip....?

:) I'll take this post at face value... :)

My dc have a "trans" auntie but they've grown up with her so always accepted her completely. (No sex life questions - horror for you.)

I think perhaps the trans thing may be a novelty but just go with the flow - once they get to know you it won't matter. The great thing about being an auntie is that you can mould yourself however you like - hip or responsible... I'd go for irresponsible every time... Maybe you should ask them for shopping advice too. :)

Have fun. :)
