Is it just me or is [[https://www.youtube.com/embed/QPAdnXuKs10
this]] the most cringy ad on TV?

And that's saying a lot when

Oh so that's the trick! Bloody hell, all the hours everyone on this board has spent agonising over step-parenting and all we had to do was make some risotto...Hmm

SirDiddymus · 17/04/2015 14:30

Plus the risotto might say that, but my DSC would certainly reply with:

"I don't like it!"

"Err, what is it?!"

And "It looks weird so I'm not eating it".

MeridianB · 17/04/2015 15:46

Grin at SirDiddy. Yes, where was my cannoli rice when I needed it?

Their strapline is crying out to be spoofed, too.

"This risotto says....mummy and daddy won't be together any more"

Grr auto spell changed carnaroli to cannoli

I cringe at it yes, and I'm not even sure why.

I think I can feel all the ex wives and their non stepparent friends rolling their eyes and gnashing their teeth at the 'I'm not trying to be your Mum'

And yeah, Risotto? My sc would have taken one look at it, turned to Dad and said 'so, when are we going home?'

fackinell · 17/04/2015 16:19

Oh I hate it too. If that was my house there would be a full scale row taking place with teen SD demanding Dad take her to McDonald and culminating in me pouring the risotto over her head.

Snoozybird · 17/04/2015 18:39

I find this advert insensitive and clueless.

Maybe MNHQ could add a Risotto to their Smileys list a la "here have a Biscuit" so that every time a SM is ripped to shreds for venting they could be presented with the solution to all their problems.

If only life were that simple eh (not unlike the advertising department at Colmans it would seem) Hmm

SirDiddymus · 17/04/2015 19:50

I like the idea of a "make everything better" risotto smiley.

fackinell · 19/04/2015 09:39

Oh a risotto emoji would be fantastic!! Should I report this thread to ask? Grin

Wdigin2this · 19/04/2015 10:17

Oh yeah...right, why didn't we all just think of that?!!! Hmm

fackinell · 19/04/2015 11:04

Done! Smile

Koalafications · 19/04/2015 11:10

It's a ridiculous advert.

DSD unsure about you? Risotto is the answer!
DSD upset about mummy and daddy splitting up? Risotto is the answer!

Hmm

Hello
Thanks for flagging.
Not entirely sure what a risotto emoji would even look like.
Afraid we can't promise anything tbh, as not sure we're in the market for new emoticons atm, but will pass your request to the PowersThatBe
Thanks

fackinell · 19/04/2015 13:40

Thank you Olivia MN. ??

butterflyballs · 30/04/2015 14:20

And who makes risotto out of a packet anyway?

Neither of my dsc would touch risotto as it contains vegetables. It would cause a full scale riot along the lines of "she only made this because she knows I hate peas!"
