Christmas arrangements

Hi folks

Not written in this section for a while as things have been surprisingly OK!
Just curious on what all of your arrangements are over the Christmas period? Do you see your step children, Xmas eve/day,Boxing day? How do you do Santa if you have resident DC, and non resident DSC etc? Xx

Every other Christmas for dsc. Holidays are 50:50 so two weeks are worked out so the right parent has children for Christmas day, fairly flexible on exact timings but try not to have too much shifting for kids. Whoever doesn't have Christmas has new year. Father Christmas fills stockings for children here on Christmas morning. Tree presents for everyone whenever they are there. Has worked really peacefully for some years now. Holiday dates all worked out for academic year in September so everyone knows what is happening. How does it work for you op?

Hey guys thanks for you replies. Slkk, you arrangement sounds very organised and comfortable, as does yours needahol. I would have say same to ILs need, LOL!
Unfortunately we don't have luxury and probably never will of Having DSD here on Xmas eve! We get her on Boxing Day every year, which is when she opens her santa gifts . DP and I have DS also who gets his gifts on Xmas morning which is lovely. I feel rather shit about the fact that DS gifts are all opened and the excitement is over by Boxing Day and he has to sit and watch DSD opening her gifts am I crazy feeling that? How do you guys deal with it on the years you don't have the step children on Christmas morning? Xx

We don't usually have them boxing day either on their mum's year as they get the whole Christmas few days with one family. We have always tended to have a nice meal and a present opening session before they go and stay at their dm' s for Christmas on her heat. We then have a nice new year celebration. However this year is the first year we also have dac (not a baby) living with us so will maybe let him have a few little gifts with them and then the rest on Christmas morning.

Thanks needaholiday, I think we r on the same wave length ?? I may not feel as bad if it was still xmas day and as you say, DS probably be getting tired and preoccupied. I think it's just the fact that Boxing Day is a whole new day. I really like your idea of saving a few extras for him opening when DSD opening hers tho, x

Yes I agree needa. I think keeping a few presents back will help the los (or in our case a few early ones). Good luck, Denise. Hope you have a peaceful one :)

Aww he is only 20 months so it's all new to him (and )I. He doesn't understand Christmas yet to be fair! I will get a few extras and I really hope your right and he's more interested in his own new toys! He may just be interested in the paper and boxes LOL x

We swap each year. Xmas eve to Boxing Day :)

SS is currently NC but when we did see him we would pick him up at some point on Xmas day ( his mum would set a time then change it... every year) and he'd have his presents then. Once we had DS, we would keep back the presents from 'us' for later when SS arrived so they both had some to open and he would have his presents from 'santa' in the morning ( SS was 10 when DS was born so didn't believe in Santa by then).

We're having DSD here on Christmas Eve for our Christmas Day, presents under the tree, nice meal, chocolate and toys. She has two younger siblings and it just wouldn't be fair on her to not wake up with them on Christmas morning.

On Christmas morning we're popping round to my DP's exW's house to see what Father Christmas brought for an hour or so, and to give his ExW and her younger two their presents.
I've never had a small child round for Christmas, and I'm getting rather excited!

It is our turn to have the teenager for Christmas day. We expected a bit of a to do. As it happens we have lucked in and her mum is happy with her spending all of Christmas week with us until the 29th!!! Sometimes expect the unexpected....
