Feeling a bit down

It was dsd birthday not long ago. I got a lovely cake, hot all the party food, balloons, banners and sorted practically everything. As soon as dsd was here all I heard was about the party mum would be throwing her on her return, the present she was getting (that we wanted to get but was told we couldn't). Even the cake she was getting we got a run down on every 30 minuets. Just feel like mum told her all this so she would be wanting to go home and whatever we did didn't count as her "real party"

Aw. That was lovely of you and it does sound upsetting. I bet she enjoyed it. Kids talk like that. They like to tell you all their news. She'll probably go back to her mum's and tell her all about the party you had for her. Talking about one party doesn't mean she didn't enjoy the other.

Dsds mum will phone her on our special days, eg summer holiday trip we had saved for, to forewarn her about the "exciting new thing I've got you" - which is then all we hear about.

It is a little bit lot soul destroying.

Bigpig, we are lucky, mum won't pull stuff like that. I'm sure she had a nice time but we can't have all her friends round as we love too far away. I'm sure she went home happy but it still stings. I'd be better off not giving too hoots
