Aww, he sounds lovely.

I am meanm he is an adult and gets treated as one here, his Mum babies him he is not allowed to cook, make tea etc. I expect him to hoover and earn pocket money, and allow him have friends over once he cleans up. His Mum does not allow friends in the house.
Honestly though it is respect that works both ways

His driving had me a bit white knuckled but I managed to keep my mouth shut

You've obviously done a good job.

We are together 10 yrs so since he was 6/7 but only had holiday contact for the first few years as we lived abroad. Since we moved back and bought a house the first thing I did was give the DSC house keys which they lost , and I then established house rules for everyone basic normal ones like homework before computor time, curfews that change as they got older, choice in food shopping so long as A they ate or at least tried it and B they helped cook it. We also have an open door policy here as in I prefer them here on the computor or watching tv then hanging around the village. Always have crisps pizza and lemonade for friends as well. They dont have that in their Mums house

Lovely to see a positive story! my dsd who once told me I was nothing to her, just a ring on her Dads finger, bought me gorgeous earrings with her first wages and insisted we went out for a drink. Both the earrings and memory are very precious.
