Do your children and step children take sides?

My DP and I had an argument today (that isn't the topic of the thread though) and unfortunate it was in front of our children.

I noticed after that my children gravitated towards me a lot, especially my girls. I was ironing and one of them wanted to help me, no matter what it was (she took the ironing up!) as she just wanted to be with me. My eldest even said she didn't want to be with DP as she didn't want to get in to trouble and just wanted to be with me. My five year old has been clingy.

At the same time, my DSCs have been very dad orientated. They were all having a good old giggle with him earlier. I wasn't included and neither were my children.

It surprised me to be honest. Made me think maybe they don't think he is so great after all x

Dsd nearly always tries to stick up for me :/ I think it's because dp is more shouty than me so she thinks I'm being shouted at. Maybe also because were both female? I always tell her that it's an adult thing so can she go and play in her room please.

Our house divides into two camps at the first sign of a disagreement.
DSD positively enjoys it - she gets daddy all to herself and goes into super sickly sweet mode
