Maintenance questions

Hi not sure if in right place so feel free to move.

Me and my partner of 5 years have a son together and he has a son from previous relationship. He has always paid maintenance, although for the last year it has been without csa involvement as we pay slightly more now as his mum moved away with him (5 hour drive) so we don't see him as often.

Anyway, my partners ex is now in a new relationship and is pregnant. My question is, if through the csa would our payments go up as she is having a new child, I thought surely not as her baby isn't our responsibility.

Anyone know this?

No they wouldn't go up. If you had another child with your dp the payments would go down.

Ok thanks

No, your partner remains responsible for maintenance of his child. Not any future children his ex may have with someone else.

It sounds daft now I've asked but I've recently heard people saying their csa has gone down as their ex has moved in with someone who has a child so wondered if it's the same just the other way around.

The people who told you that are right - the non-resident parent's income assumed to be supporting more children so the CSA contributions go down if he has more children or moves in with someone with children (even if she's a millionaire and the children are already supported by some other ex-husband....). But CSA has never depending on the resident parent's income, nor on how many other children they have or live with. So yours won't alter.

Agree with everyone else. It will not change for the better or worse.
