I genuinely don't think you can do right for doing wrong. This thread has helped me hugely in terms of support recently - to know that people are in the same boat. We just got a text for ex accusing us of bring mean for not coughing up sponsorship money for something we'd agree to sponsor but didn't even know it was happening - it wasn't a big organised event but just something they decided to do one day at school. Apparently ss was really upset and had worked so hard but when I just asked him he just shrugged and said that he forgot to tell us. This is after I've just brought a load of presents back and 100 quid my family have given me for the stepkids, despite never even having met them. Ex is always getting at us over anything so just venting!

As a step parent you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you had sponsored dss you'd have probably been accused of overstepping some boundary, you didn't and you're in the wrong anyway... It all gets exhausting I find.
