Step-Parenting in the Media

I'm a mature student working on a thesis about the role of stepparents in today's society. Part of my thesis is a discussion about the depiction of step-parenting in the modern media (newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs, and internet forums such as this one).

I wondered if any commenters would take the time to recommend a few to me, as it's always valuable to have outside input. I don't have children of my own but am a step-child and would be fascinated to hear how commenters feel about the subject, and what they read.

I think blended families are so common now that to depict step parenting in a negative way would risk alienating about half the readers/ viewers. Maybe i'm just thick skinned, but i don't actually notice the way it's treated by the media (apart from MN, which provides a much needed forum for advice from people in a similar situation) which suggests that it's now considered to be 'normal' in many ways.
