Any step-granparents out there?

All the postings seem to be about young stepkids. Mine are grown up and one has a baby. I'm finding it all difficult, just when I thought it was going to get easier because they are grownups. Wondered if anyone out there is in similar situation, or are you all step-parents to young children?

Well moretolife, I am a granny, my kids are grown up. DS is 19, DD is 23. My grandchildren are DGS 4 and DGD 6 mths.

My step kids are DSD1 aged 22, DSS1 aged 20, DSS2 14 and DSD 10. I'm not a step-granny yet but I'm sure it won't be long!

Of course DP is a Step Grandad to my DD's two and they adore him, DGS follows him around like a little sheep and DGD beams every time she sees him, I guess I'm just lucky.

How long have you been a step-mum?

Hi , I guess there aren't many of us out there in MNland, as I thought! My own child is only 5, so I don't expect to be a granny myself for a while yet! it's my stepson who's got a baby, and what i'm finding hard is not getting irritated by his partner telling me how to sterilise bottles properly, make up cot etc when a) it's hardly a long time since i had my own baby and b) why I'm lumbered with helping out in the first place when it's not my grandchild!! I dont actually say anything because I care about my husband and want things to be as smooth as possible for him and them together. so i just seethe inside, grit my teeth and put on my best stepmother smile.
As for being a step mum, yes, although my stepkids are really decent & ok, I still have found it difficult over the last 10years. what problems have you had?
