The Bonus Mums (BoMs) Wine drinking thread is now resuming normal service on SP.
Take a seat on our Passive Agressive Furniture and pour yourself a nice Wine.

Cakes and Double G&Ts are also welcome.

Only reason im having a travel cot bassinet downstairs is I want somewhere safe and sturdy for baby to sleep when DSD and dog are around. Plus the one im getting is a playpen one too so again somewhere safe to pop baby once its a bit bigger.

Yay Kara thats ace :) I think im going to make some sheets for cot and moses basket :) What colours have you gone for in babys room? Im still undecided Hmm

ConfessionsOfaFlask · 12/05/2011 08:19

I got one kara and it is so useful-wasn't too expensive either.

Been busy too with RL but popping in this morning for a quick nose around and say hello.

How is everyone ?

We don't have a room for the baby - baby will be sleeping with us until she is older then she will be sharing with DS (as DSS has his own much smaller room).
We decorated DS's room in yellow since we didn't know what we were having.
Looks very bright and sunny in there!

WinterLover · 12/05/2011 10:48

Awww thats not too bad then, think we're going to do the box room (you can fit cot and chair in it) pale yellow/pale green with a winnie the pooh border as we were given winnie the pooh curtains free :)

We will need to move in the next year or so as neither DP or I want DSD to share her room, but we both find it will be unfair for her to have the largest room when she's only here 2/3 days a week.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/05/2011 11:34

Yeah DSS is in the box room in our house as he only stays with us once a fortnight.
He sulked at first when he realised we were not letting have the other double bedroom but he got over it. We let him choose the colours for his room which helped.

WinterLover · 12/05/2011 11:52

Its hard, DSD has been in bigish rooms where ever we have lived, so making her move from big room to small box room that would fit a single bed in and bedside cabinet with no room for toys just seems mean and horrible.

We are looking at buying next year (getting the deposit together now) so hopefully if we move house and the room is smaller she wont notice as much. Well thats the plan anyway.

We have 2 wardrobes in her room, one of which is 'our' wardrobe which will be cleared out and used for baby stuff. May even get a storage unit to go in her room too for more baby stuff.

I am getting fed up with MIL though, and I actually retaliated on her last visit. Ive counted 6 times now where she's made comment that the box room is too small for a baby... so on her last 'oh this is really a small room for a little one' I replied with 'so are you telling DSD she's moving in here or sharing her room with a baby then?' he reply 'oh I hadnt thought of that' ... well keep ya trap shut then Hmm

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/05/2011 12:05

Grrr MILs!!!

The plan was we were going to sell this house and move closer to DH's work (and incidentally close to where DSS and his mum lives). We were lookig for 4 bedroom, the biggest room would be mine DH's, the next biggest would be DS & DD's, the next biggest would be my office cum guest room and the smallest would be DSS's. By the time DD & DS were big enough to want their own rooms, DSS would probably not be staying very much at our house(there is 7 years between him and DS) so I would take over DSS's room as my office and DS and DD would have their own rooms, with DSS staying in DS's room if he did stay over.

WinterLover · 12/05/2011 12:14

That sounds like a good plan and would make practical sense for you all, Step children are a mind field arent they Grin

I did threaten DP not long ago that if he didnt pull his socks up, found work and sorted his crap out in the house id be looking at a 2 bed house :) me and mini me lol

We will be doing the same as you, but 4 bedrooms, DP's office would be shared with a sofa bed for anyone staying over and the two DCs having their own room.

nenevomito · 12/05/2011 12:17

Hello all.

DBD used to have the larger spare room until we moved and now she has the loft. It's a bit cold and dark and she has to duck to miss the cobwebs, but she has a thick sleeping bag, so that's ok, right? Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/05/2011 15:02

BH - sounds like luxury. Do you at least provide her a slipper to swat the spiders with?

Just had some worrying news about DSS, his mum took him to GP about he excema, and he mentioned he has been getting chest pains last few days, said nowt about them to me or DH and I don't think he said anything to his mum either! He has been for an ECG and a lung capacity test they are clear but they want to do a few more tests. Fingers crossed it is nothing serious!

nenevomito · 12/05/2011 21:42

Kara - hope DSS is OK.

As for DBD she does swat the spiders, but its all extra nutrition that saves us on the shopping bill.Grin

Just waiting for DS to be old enough to make it up the ladder and I can start reclaiming the house!

ConfessionsOfaFlask · 13/05/2011 14:04

Kara- let us know how DSS is doing. Hope all is well.

Bonjour Pegs!

I had such a lovely time last night snuggled up with my new BDs and Google Translate!

I had to explain that yes, I did need the laptop when I was reading books Grin

Attics - they are the way forward for step children if you don't have a basement!

ConfessionsOfaFlask · 13/05/2011 14:53

I'm glad you enjoyed them- I was hoping you didn't read them already !

That shop, I tell you, was a BD dream come true, even DH got sucked in with the more dark/zombie stuff. So many styles and great artists to choos from. DD likes the Max et Lili ones.

OP posts:
nenevomito · 13/05/2011 17:53

No I didn't and they're fab!

I'm just so hacked off at the moment. The GP referred DS for assessment in Feb and we've only just had the confirmation letter telling us it will be 10 months.

So, so, so hacked off. Grrrrr.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/05/2011 21:02

BH - 10months!! Shock That is ridiculous!!!

Attics/Basements - I don't know don't think SC know how lucky they are. If I had my way we have a very nice cupboard under the stairs DSS could go into Wink

He seems okay, there will be more tests plus they are going to retest his thyroid functions to explain his weight gain. Though methinks this is more to do with lazyitis but I could be wrong!

nenevomito · 13/05/2011 21:14

I'd watch those cupboards under the stairs if I were you. Next thing you know you'd have a film franchise Grin

Yes, 10 months is bloody ridiculous Angry

WinterLover · 15/05/2011 08:52

nenevomito · 15/05/2011 11:51

glasscompletelybroken · 15/05/2011 11:52

Hi WL - can I join in?

WinterLover · 15/05/2011 17:24

Erm DBD, DP, Lack of sleep, in pain, D&V and just plain old grumpy lol

DPs quitting smoking so down to 4 a day so thats 'fun' oh and he's got the lurgy.

DBD is just generally a pain in the bum in a lovely way at the min.... not got her for 2 weeks now tho :(

WinterLover · 15/05/2011 17:24

Glass feel free to join in Grin

glasscompletelybroken · 15/05/2011 17:46

Thanks - feeling the pressure of the Thursday-Sunday weekend, business partner given up smoking and DH in casualty with suspected broken wrist! Add to that the rats I can hear scurrying over my head and my apparently pre-menopausal inability to sleep properly and I am just about ready for a BIG glass of wine. Oh - except I can't have one as will probably have to drive to the hospital and pick up DH later.

WinterLover · 15/05/2011 18:09

oh Glass your more deserving of the AARRGGHH than me!! Sounds like a mental weekend for you

glasscompletelybroken · 15/05/2011 18:21

It gets worse - DH's ex has just asked if we can pick the girls up from school on all of her days this week as she is working. - and I'm not??? Aaaarrgghhhh!!!
