What do you do when the ex won’t let DSD out of her sight?

Should she really have to come along with DH, our DC and the DSD when we have a day out? She says that DSD doesn?t know us well enough to spend the day with us and that she should come along too.

I just don?t want to spend the day with her (she?s been really rude about me in the past) and I don?t see why my DC should have to have their father?s ex-wife hanging around. I also feel sad for DH who never gets to see his DD without his ex being there.

The ex took DSD to live with her on the other side of the world when she was eight weeks old. DSD knows perfectly well who DH is from visits and skyping once a week. DSD is 4.5.

There is no reason for ex to not want DH to see DSD without her ? he?s not violent, doesn?t drink, is a perfectly respectable person and a loving father.

has she moved back? How often does your dh see dsd now? Perhaps its worth putting up with it for a couple of visits and then say that its time for dsd to have solo visits with your dh, you and the dc?

She hasn't moved back. They are coming over for a couple of weeks.

We'll have three days with them staying near us so that DH can spend some time with DSD. It will also be the first time that DSD meets DC.

Then they'll go and stay with MIL and DH will go up and visit them there.

It will be their second visit to the UK since she left - so DH's time with DSD is very limited.

Yep - I guess so.

DH will just have to spend the time with DSD and his ex. I can't go with them - she was so awful about me last time.

I know that its about DH and DSD. But a little self-pitying part of me feels kicked out of my own family during these visits. Its an awful thing to admit and doesn't make me feel good about myself at all.
