Bafana Bafana

Have heard the South African fans saying it loads, but, no idea what it means.

I know people hate these type of thread titles that don't put the info into the actual title, but, I would if it were swearing.

isn't it the SA's team name or something?

I'm sure it's not a swear word.

LOL

Possibly the Affricanz (sp?) name for them then.

Mind you you're probably right re not a swear word as surely the tv would bleep it out.

I think it just means 'Boys Boys', ie our lads

MaureenMLove · 22/06/2010 22:07

It's the affectionate term for the National football team of SA, I believe.

hopalongdagger · 22/06/2010 22:08

have heard the same as JustKeepSwimming.

Yes from Wiki:

The most popular sport among black South African men is soccer, with the national team being nicknamed Bafana Bafana (meaning 'The Boys')

AbsOfCroissant · 22/06/2010 22:10

It means "the boys the boys" and is the nickname of the team.

They did well the boys, I'm so proud

magicOC · 22/06/2010 22:17
