I've been seeing a lot of clips of English lads chanting "Ten German Bombers" song in the states for the world cup, I'm looking for your honest opinion on the image it projects ? Please see Poll, Thanks

I've not heard that song but can remember a much-loved university friend singing "two world wars and one world cup, doo dah doo dah" when very drunk.

Usually followed by him declaring his undying love and then stealing a traffic cone.

Football is tribal OP, especially for men. It's meant to be, it unites them. Sport is often seen as a healthy substitute for war.

I dare say the German fans will be chanting something equally childish.

Football should be banned and replaced with draughts. That would sort everything out IMO.

That's music but the words are ten German bombers in the air dating back to the battle of Britain in WW2 .

It's about the Battle of Britain but I think it was written later.

Compared to "He shagged all your sheep, he shagged all your sheep, Jimmy Saville, he shagged all your sheep", "Ten German bombers" is civilised.

I just find it embarrassing now this chant !!

I live in New York and all the football fans here, including England, have been fabulous. No bother whatsoever and are really enjoying their time over here. The prohibitive cost of attending this WC appears to have kept the loonies from all countries away.
