Oh god, the Cricket (lighthearted)

I feel as if I’m in an abusive relationship with the Ashes series so far. Don’t want to stay but can’t tear myself away. The tiny chinks of light so quickly snuffed out. The theoretical odds versus the on pitch reality. The hope that England might actually win a Test against Australia feels about as misplaced as Stokes’ field in the last innings at the moment. At least I haven’t travelled to the other side of the planet to watch it.

Any fellow sufferers? And any die hard fans who can tell me how I can change my mindset and enjoy the ride?

Do you actually sit and watch it? Or have it on in the background?

Must admit I am only listening to TMS at the moment. Was about to spring for TMT but wondering if it will just compound the misery.

It's not the defeats, it's that they give us hope beforehand.

We got discovery+ for the month and it is terrible, it's like channel 5 on steroids and the cricket is bad too: awful commentators, bad camerawork and editing.

As for the actual cricket.....I have kind of made myself not care but not 100%.

My prediction is 4-1 with the one being a dead rubber. But you can still hope a tiny bit. DD 14 now understands the rules and it's fun watching with her at least.

It really is the hope that makes it so much worse @Erin1975 And yes @NormalAuntFanny I am exchanging messages of despair with my cricket mad student DD so that is lovely.
