Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

I’m reading that Max IS going to Mercedes

I didn’t follow F1 last year so don’t know how strong the Max to Merc rumours were then. How does this silly season compare to last year?

Interesting that according to DTS Toto promised Lewis not to talk to Max while he was still at Mercedes but now George is the lead driver he’s desperately wooing Max again. I’ll feel bad for George if he has to leave. I know his he feels though. My work have been extending my contract and the contracts of my two other team members for 6 months at a time for nearly two years.

Last years silly season was mostly Hamilton to Ferrari, where would Sainz go and who would replace Checo

Max to Mercedes would be interesting. The rumours have increased after Austria.

F1 is brutal, isn’t it! I know drivers are replaced all the time, but it’s usually because they are driving badly. George is driving out of his skin and still looks like he might lose his seat. He really doesn’t need all of the speculation just before his home GP. I read something on Sky Sports yesterday that said it probably would be George who would have to make way… I presume Toto is thinking that Max is the present and Kimi the future (Although if Kimi turns out to be as good as they think, then Ferrari will soon come knocking).

not sure if Max would be as nurturing to Kimi as George seems to be. I thought the way Kimi‘s dad greeted George after the Canadian Grand Prix said a lot: there is clearly a good relationship between the two parties.

Can you imagine the absolute hissy fit Horner will throw if Max does leave and go to Mercedes??!!

Honestly I hope max does move to Mercedes - purely for the entertainment factor of the guaranteed circus that would follow lol!! But I can see CH taking George and giving him the seat and use him to try beat Mercedes!

Im not a fan of George, but I also remember all this media hype with Lewis moving to Ferrari rumours and they turned out to be true. I wasn’t a fan of Lewis at Mercedes either but I’m liking him now - maybe I’ll come to like George too lol!

George has really grown on me this year, I hope he does well at Silverstone .

My nephew (21) goes to the British GP every year, and he said George was really nice to him. He tries to meet most of the drivers, but he has said he could never get anywhere near Max, Lewis or the Ferrari guys! He’s hoping to meet the new drivers this year, and is hoping he will have better chance of meeting Sainz now that he is at Williams.

edited to say: he’s never got anywhere near Lando either. How could I forget Lando?!

Just by accident I managed to catch the Hill documentary on Sky. I thought it was excellent with home movies and Damon and Georgie being very honest. They seem such a lovely couple.

It doesn’t show Schumacher in a very good light, plus Frank Williams and Patrick Head are not the most supportive TPs.

I’m looking forward to watching it soon.

Coincidentally I watched Hill this evening and thought the same. Excellent documentary. I was never a Schumacher fan when he was racing, because he used dirty tactics. Time and his accident have softened me towards him, just nostalgia over the earlier days of a sport I’ve lived for decades. But, the documentary reminded me just how unfair he raced sometimes.

I got tickets for Dd and boyfriend for a special birthday and they’re going tomorrow with roving grandstand tickets- any idea/tips on how it works? Do people stay put once you find a seat? I just don’t get the roving bit -I can’t find any info on the website . I’d be grateful for any advice from seasoned race goers :)

It’s a very long time since I’ve been but if you spend the whole day there people tend to walk around as there is so much to do e.g. fan stage, merchandise, team stands etc. I certainly sat in more than one grandstand.

Also not a George fan but think it would be shoddy of Mercedes to kick him out for Max.
Never was a Max fan but I'm starting to see a lot of Max is the toxicity of Red Bull. Would be interesting to see how he would be with a more nurturing team.
My brothers at Silverstone this weekend. He was hungover yesterday and no word from him yet this morning so assume he had a good Thursday . He did send me a video of the Blossoms and a pic of the Lando stand which I think looks pretty cool.

I went to McLaren live and the Williams Fanzone yesterday. It was good fun and very interesting to see the cars up close. Those pre-Halo look terrifying.

I’m a bit obsessed about the Max to Merc rumours (which means that probably nothing will happen).

I’m still trying to work out why George leaked the talks between Max and Merc to the media when he says that everything is great for him at Merc and he isn’t going anywhere. Is it just a ploy to get get a better contract deal?

It looked really packed from the Social Media posts.

The older cars look so dangerous as they allowed the drivers to rattle around, these days they are held very securely. The Halo has certainly saved several drivers from serious injury.

I like George but several people named him on the what celebs have you met thread as a total dick. And his gf, no idea why?!

One of my friends works at silverstone each year as event staff and she’s had some unpleasant things to say about him. She said her fave ever drivers she’s met are Daniel Ricciardo, Sir Lewis and Bottas!

DH and two DS went yesterday for the weekend and are camping. They went two years ago too. They FaceTimed earlier and look completely exhausted.

My nephew liked George, and said that Bottas is really lovely. I can imagine Bottas being really lovely though. Have you seen that post he did on Instagram, where he’s basically hanging around in the background, drinking coffee … very funny and self deprecating.

Love Bottas. His partner is from Adelaide where I live and he spends a fair bit of time here.

We’ve sort of adopted him here in Australia. I really hope he gets a drive next year.
