Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

Asked dd ,a massive Lando fan, about his new girlfriend. Apparently she's not well liked.

Has something gone off between Lewis and his race engineer?

It sounded very tense when Lewis said that wasnt what I asked you but I suppose it doesnt matter now anyway ...

Sadly, it appears on some SM sites that none of the girlfriends are liked. There are some awful things said about them. After Luisa I think Lando keeps his private life private.

I did wonder about Lewis but I understand some parts of the track are poor for communications e.g. the tunnel. So it maybe there was a time delay. Lewis did seem to lose a lot of time lapping traffic compared to the other drivers.

Yes, Naomi is pregnant.

Apparently at one point didn’t Lewis ask his race engineer if he had upset him? Very odd. I think Lewis seems quite lost.

yes that’s what I heard too. Seems strange

It was after the chequered flag and he was saying the usual thanks for all the hard work, we’ll do better next time etc. and I think no one answered him and he was like ‘have I upset you or something?’ I don’t think it was a serious thing.

Piffle11 · 26/05/2025 07:57

Lewis worked with Bono for so long, they knew each other inside out and any sarcasm/anger would probably be like water off Bono’s back. But to start with a new engineer, and have the language barrier – I know they all speak English, but some things are still lost in translation – it can’t be easy. And that’s before you take individual personalities into it.

midlandsmummy123 · 26/05/2025 10:48

Same engineer worked with Carlos and Vettel so experienced but there does seem to be a problem with communicating with Lewis, then again remember Carlo's 'wake up guys' at Vegas last year.

Brazilianadventure · 26/05/2025 12:28

Just listen to Max and JP, the communication is challenging during a race. I think the media like to stoke up conflict when to those who matter it’s no big deal.

Lewis has been clear this is a settling in year. There will always be miscommunications it’s normal

I mean, earlier in the race Lewis asked him what the gap was to the front runners and the engineer started telling him what tyres they were all on. I would find that annoying - that’s not what I asked!

Will be great to have an actual race this weekend!

I’ve watched Monaco races before but I don’t remember it being that bad in my earlier days of F1 watching.

Just curious, does everyone here support a British driver or are you more of a team supporter? I’m team Oscar but don’t really support McLaren (weird I know). I also have another couple of drivers who I have a soft spot for.

Brazilianadventure · 28/05/2025 11:41

@bluetongue I’m an F1 fan first and having watched for so long I have a weird hierarchy of drivers and teams. I love it when a team gets unexpected results like Alpine in Brazil last year.

My driver is Lewis, but I like to see many of them doing well.

midlandsmummy123 · 28/05/2025 11:46

Lewis, Oscar as drivers but enjoying seeing Williams as a team improve their performances.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 28/05/2025 11:55

Yeah I’m an F1 fan really; I like Alonso, Hamilton, Piastri…I’m a car girl, I’m really not fussed about teams.

Piffle11 · 28/05/2025 12:52

I like Russell, Leclerc and Hulkenberg, and think I’m going to like Kimi. So no particular team bias.

ReginaaPhalangee · 28/05/2025 13:06

I’m an F1 fan first then drivers. Oscar is my fave as done so well! Also liking Kimi, Oliver and Carlos.

purplespink · 28/05/2025 14:03

I’m a fan of individual drivers as opposed to teams but if I had to pick a team, it’d be McLaren and I do have a soft spot for Williams. The drivers I support are Lewis, Fernando, Carlos and, more recently, Oscar.

Rowgtfc72 · 28/05/2025 16:29

Team Papaya and Lando. Followed his career since he was a teenager.
Always had a soft spot for Williams, think they'll do well next year.

ReginaaPhalangee · 28/05/2025 20:20

Oh I forgot to say I am fond of McLaren overall :) so will happily wear my papaya shirt!

Looking at going to my first race at Spa (very excited). I am not the best at loud noises so I’m thinking of getting some earplugs.

I have 3 options.
Loop switch - expensive but possibly more versatile. Not as comfy to sleep in (not a priority)
Alpine F1 (not linked to car company just share a name) - filtering tailored to racing sounds.
Bollsen Moto+ made more for drivers but does mention spectators .

Anyone any experience of these or using earplugs when watching a race live?

gingercat02 · 29/05/2025 10:45

I've been an F1 fan forever. My whole family are motorsports mad. Dad started in trials and motocross and moved to cars when he was older.
Probably always been Williams with a dash of McLaren
Drivers over the years Giles Villenuve, Mansell, Eddie Irvine, Damon Hill (one of the nicest people i have ever met), JB22 🥰😍, Senna, Vettel. Schumacher for skill not personality, Kimi Raikinon for deadpan radio messages.
Current Drivers Lando, Antonelli, Piastri
Bit of a mixed bag, but I love it all

I have been to races when they had V10s and you definitely needed earplugs.

I have always used the basic ear plugs you get free on planes.

I agree. From memory Nico was very good at engineering and could have studied at university but choose F1 instead. He describes the technical aspects really well.
