Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

Anyone else excited for some racing in Europe? Not ideal for me watching from Australia but I still love the European legs, especially Italian races.

Will be interesting to see if any of the new updates change the order at all.

midlandsmummy123 · 16/05/2025 07:54

Looking forward to Imola it seems Kimi has invited his entire school class and two teachers, he's currently studying for his final exams, be nice to see him get a win in Italy.

And Anthony Hamilton is to have a new FIA role to do with protecting young drivers from unscrupulous managers and harsh treatment - looking at you Hemant, Flavio - possibly Alonso.

bluetongue · 16/05/2025 08:14

I have to say it’s so much fun following F1 again after a number of years away. Think I mentioned before that I even somehow managed to miss the news that Hamilton had moved to Ferrari. While part of me is a bit sad that I’ve missed so much it’s also great to come back to so many new drivers and changes in which teams are at the top.

Have been trying to get my dad (who is a Motorsport and car enthusiast) more interested in the season by taking about how great Oscar is doing, especially as it’s only his third season. All my dad could say was that Oscar was doing ‘okay’ 🤣 My dad is more Oscar than Oscar is… He also refuses to pay to watch sport on TV even though he can easily afford it.

Brazilianadventure · 16/05/2025 08:35

Definitely looking forward to Imola. I hope Charles is recovered from his illness.

Last year Lewis wrote a message for Kimi in his drivers room in the Mercedes Motor Home. Merc have put a protective frame over it and filmed Kimi seeing it for the first time. He was really touched with what Lewis wrote.

I think Anthony Hamilton will be a good addition to the FIA, he has the right approach for the young drivers.

Carlos being asked a lot of questions about his Dad.

The rumours that the horn dog is getting replaced after Italy are gathering a lot of pace.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 16/05/2025 09:41

That sounds amazing, Anthony Hamilton! What a great role for him. Hope it’s not just good PR for them and a friendly face to paper over what is obviously a shark tank of an industry.

Im going to miss the entire weekend because I’m going to a hill climb event (basically single seater cars shooting up a big steep hill) - I’m an automotive photographer on the side. Super excited, not quite F1, but it’s very up close to a lot of fast and cool cars.

Does anyone know why RB are suddenly trying to get rid of CH, is it performance or the internal power struggle?

OP posts:
midlandsmummy123 · 16/05/2025 18:59

Strangely non of the usual sites I follow seem to be commenting on or in the case of reddit to be putting much stock in the Christian rumours but the DM says it was reported on a German website.

I wonder though - maybe someone at RB is fed up after spending all that money buying perez out of his contract and not seeing the results with him replacements or...the employment tribunal that the British press aren't allowed to mention, as far as I know its not due until Jan 26...

Brazilianadventure · 16/05/2025 19:31

The off track politics mean F1 is never boring.

The good news is the drivers seem to all be supporting Carlos Sainz Snr running for President by saying no conflict of interest.

I'm so pleased for AH. He will be brilliant with the youngsters, he's already a fatherly figure to them but with so much experience with Lewis I think he will be great at helping them develop their skills and resilience. There's so much pressure on them these days, the media is non stop and they seem to be getting dropped without being given a real chance to settle. I think Sainz Snr would be a good president too, so fingers crossed for that.
Looking forward to Imola. The only downside side of the European races for me is the timings mean I don't get to watch them live because of work, and have to try and avoid the results till I've watched in the evenings.

Rowgtfc72 · 16/05/2025 20:56

Have a good weekend @ShadowsOfTheDays .
Dd takes photos of modified and classics at local meets. Couple of friends asked for pictures and word spread, she's getting herself a little portfolio- strictly for fun though, she loves doing it.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 16/05/2025 22:46

Good for her @Rowgtfc72I absolutely love it and have met so many lovely people - it’s through my Instagram page that I’m shooting at this event. Tell her to keep at it!

Rowgtfc72 · 17/05/2025 08:34

Thanks @ShadowsOfTheDays shes an apprentice mechanic and absolutely obsessed with cars and motorsports.
Cadwell in Lincolnshire is our home track and she's got a season pass this year, she's already done Modified Live and some drifters.
Have a good day today, hope your weather's better than ours!

I’ve just read that Toto is talking to Perez about replacing George next year as George is going to Red bull

midlandsmummy123 · 17/05/2025 12:03

Can't see George and Max on a team together, there would be fireworks. But maybe Max won't be there, I did read that AM have offered Max £230 million over 3 years to drive for them, I guess it won't happen until the new regs / Adrian Newey designed car though.

yes that’s the idea, Max is off to AM

purplespink · 17/05/2025 12:37

If Fernando ends up without a seat, I’ll riot.

Why would George leave?I thought Merc were rumoured to be favourite to do well with the new regulations.

Fernando has a contract for next year with AM, after that he'll be given another role in the company if there isn't a seat for him or if he can no longer drive at the same level, he'll be 45 then.

purplespink · 17/05/2025 13:11

@midlandsmummy123I know he’ll be 45 but I really don’t care 😭 want to see him for another 10 years 😄 plus surely even if people were concerned about his age (not saying that you are) he’s better than Stroll??

midlandsmummy123 · 17/05/2025 13:22

@purplespink according to his trainer he has the body/reflexes of a much younger man so maybe he does have a few more years driving, personallyI'd like to see him as a ruthless TP at AM :-)
