Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

Really interesting Williams strategy. Good to see Sainz and Albon working together so well. Sainz is now showing his class.

Laughed at Verstappen and sex pest sulking about the penalty. If anything, the penalty was not harsh enough.

Brazilianadventure · 20/04/2025 20:25

Max and CH not happy about the penalty. How many times has Max done what Oscar did to other drivers and come out leading? The good thing is Oscar will definitely be robust with Max so I expect a few clashes.

Max should think himself lucky it was only 5 seconds. Lawson got 10 seconds for the same offence, which is the standard penalty for that.

But the stewards said that “given that this was Max a lap one and turn one incident, we considered that to be a mitigating circumstance and imposed a 5 second penalty instead”. Hmm

Exactly. I hate Verstappen's entitled spoilt brat attitude and sex pest just encourages it. If he had given the position back he most likely would have won but he never thinks he is in the wrong

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 21/04/2025 08:52

I don’t get the sex pest comments. Max was pissed off. But that is natural - he has just finished a long and gruelling race and felt there was an injustice. Given the FIAs happiness to impose fines he really couldn’t say anything.

If he is still moaning about it in two weeks then it is bad sportsmanship but being grumpy straight after a race is just being human.

Brazilianadventure · 21/04/2025 09:22

Sex pest = CH.

There is video of MBS having a word with Max as soon as he took his helmet off. Max did not look happy and that maybe is why he was in a bad mood.

The theory is he was told not to criticise the FIA/Stewards etc.

MBS is really controlling and is not good for F1.

Yes sex pest is the creep otherwise known as Horner.

Trouble is Verstappen is always pissed of when things don't go his way. He can drive as dangerously as he likes and push other drivers off and it's all ok but the second another driver doesn't just take he he moans and bleats like a spoilt toddler.

His attitude is why I will never ever like him no matter how many races or championships he wins (or is gifted)

bluetongue · 21/04/2025 11:42

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned it but Leclerc drove brilliantly this weekend.

midlandsmummy123 · 21/04/2025 14:04

What was up with Lando walking off during an interview in the post race press conference, he surely doesn't have a phobia of fireworks -hhmm maybe he was deydrated and headachey, I do think the drivers should have a bit more recovery time before facing the press.

It said in the broadcast that drivers lose an average of 1.5kg during a race and in a hot race it can be up to 3kg so they really do need to rehydrate.

Timing of post race interviews are hard because the viewers aren’t going to want to hang around for a long time to listen to them. But I think we need to have a lot more sympathy to grumpiness/ being snappy/ being self critical ect. Straight afterwards.

Brazilianadventure · 22/04/2025 06:23

This is why Max was so angry

@Brazilianadventurewhat’s the context of that picture?

Wakemeuuuup · 22/04/2025 09:46

It seems fia president came over to warn Max not to complain or swear. Not many articles about it unfortunately. This is the best I can do

MBS warning Max immediately after the race not to say anything.

Mumsnet is not letting me post the link but there's a new youtube (f1forsuccess)
which is DC's explanation about his mindset and skills deteriorating at the end of his career, Jenson has also said something similar although his was more along the lines of fear starting to creep in and I just wonder is it possible that this is where Lewis is...

Brazilianadventure · 24/04/2025 04:57

@midlandsmummy123 probably.

No one is immune to aging and Lewis will see a decline. He is a decade + older than most of the drivers.

However, the cars and tyres have a very small optimal operating window and we have seen younger drivers struggle. Max’s performance from one race to the next, Lando having to adjust his driving style this year etc. DR!

If you watch the Williams podcast on YouTube in one of them Carlos explains it really well. I can’t remember which episode - sorry.

I have always thought it would be the end of 2026 before we know if that is it for Lewis. 2025 is about retraining his muscle memory and inputting to the 2026 car with the regulation change. The 2026 cars will be different, it’s a reset, and if Ferrari get it right and Lewis likes the cars/tyres who knows what he can do. Age will be a factor.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 24/04/2025 09:12

I actually think a bit of Max stereotyping goes on; he’s maturing and not as bad as he used to be, but constantly gets it tight for whining, when other drivers are as bad - Lando, George, for example?!

I like that he says what he thinks and feels - don’t always agree but it’s better than, say, football, where everyone is so media trained that post-match interviews are completely pointless.

Brazilianadventure · 25/04/2025 07:00

@ShadowsOfTheDays I know what you mean about Max. I appreciate his straight talking even if I don’t always agree with him.

The fine he got for swearing was ridiculous. MBS is what upset him far more than the penalty.
