I'd love Sarina managing the men's team. That would be something else!

Sarina Wiegman is reportedly among the candidates to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager.

I'd be up for that!

Maybe last year when this came up was when FA rep was asked about Wiegman. He gave a political answer if "nobody is out of the running. We don't have a profile on who will be hired". You know. Generic safe answer. Obviously the oress ran with the whole Wiegman potentially the new coach and oh man did men on social media get upset.

I like Sarina but don't take her from the women's team. Having said that she couldn't probably manage both!

COULD manage both !

Genuinely - it would be amazing if she did. I actually think she could do it - but the question is whether she’d want to? 😂

AndNobbyDancing · 17/07/2024 21:05

I think it would be awful if Wiegman left the women's for the men's.

At the moment, I think it’ll be either Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pochettino or Jurgen Klopp (most likely to least likely lol). I would love it if was Klopp, but I know that’s incredibly unlikely.

I feel so so sad for Gareth though. I’m sad he didn’t get a trophy. I’ve got a really random specific vision that he’ll end up being a national ambassador for the challenges facing English football (sort of like a continuation of his current role). I also have a random feeling he’ll be offered a peerage - but imagine he’d probably turn it down 😂 I just hope he’s recognised for everything he’s done for the team.

I hope this actually happens, but I know it’s quite random. He’s been a real role model of mine over the last few years and I just wish him all the best with everything he goes on to do for the rest of his career.

Harry Kane

545 games. 7 teams. 78 attempts at a trophy. 6 finals. 0 wins. 0 goals. 0 assists. 0 trophies.

I love Harry Kane, so I’m probably a bit biased, but to me, the main thing those stats show is how bloody hard it is to win a trophy.

Let’s also remember that HK is England’s best ever goal scorer, Spurs’ best ever goal scorer and second to the best ever Premier League goal scorer (Alan Shearer), and had an amazing first season with Bayern. That shows how incredibly talented and hardworking he is to me. I think it’ll only be a matter of time before he wins a trophy, especially now he’s with Bayern.

Although I still hope Spurs win a trophy some point soon 😂

I'd be surprised if Eddie left Newcastle now, I think in the future he'd be a good contender.

If we get Poch everyone will rue the day they slagged off Southgate.

Arconialiving · 17/07/2024 22:57

I agree @Acapulco12

Edited

Yeah probably - I liked Poch with Spurs and he did some good stuff with Chelsea and PSG, but I don’t think he’ll be as good as Southgate. I don’t know though. I do know that Southgate has very big shoes to fill though, so I’m mainly basing my opinion on that!

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 17/07/2024 23:21

Eddie Howe won't leave the oily money. I have my doubts that Pochettino or Klopp would be interested, although I'd love Klopp.

I'm thinking Potter is more likely, and I don't think would be a bad idea.

Acapulco12 · 18/07/2024 00:03

I also think Ange Postecoglou (current Spurs manager) would be excellent for the England team in so many ways - particularly as he’d combine top man-management skills, similar to Southgate’s approach, with attacking football. I just don’t want him to leave Spurs though! I want him to win a trophy (several!) with Spurs first, then waltz into the England job and win trophies there too. My dream line-up for manager would be Klopp for the next few years then Postecoglou.

Acapulco12 · 18/07/2024 12:23

Having just reflected on this again, I’d also like Rob Edwards (Luton manager), Sean Dyche (Everton) and Gary O’Neil (Wolves) to at least be considered for the England job, even if they don’t or can’t take it. All three were impressive last season and I think they have similar man-management styles to Southgate.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2024 13:08

Dyche and O'Neil 1/40 odds Smile

Me too. It would just reinforce the (stupid) idea that men's football is more important than women's.

I'd love Klopp but can't see it happening.
