What a load of overpaid rubbish. Does anyone think that they are any good ?
They seem incapable of making any effort, or playing as a team:

Really? There are countless players in the lower leagues who are amazing with the ball, but don't have the "footballing brain" to know what to do with it.

I really don’t know, as I said, I don’t know much about football, I just don’t know whether ‘academic intelligence’ or intellect is the same as sporting intelligence. A lot of it is muscle memory too, so training drills and learning set pieces should become second nature to professional footballers.
Don’t think I’m making excuses for them, I agree with those saying England’s men aren’t as good as they should be. Football is a game I don’t particularly like or rate, I think it brings the absolute worst out in players and fans alike, and sets a dreadful example to our young children who always try and mimic what they see on the pitches. I would argue that yellow cards should be dished out immediately for arguing with the ref for instance. No excuses.

Sportsmanship is key here. I feel that all the players are playing for themselves, their egos, their next ££££ deal. They have lost sight of what it means to play for a team, with a team and the responsibilities that come with that.

They've done what they needed to to finish top of their group. There was nothing to play for today, only the risk of injury and bookings, they were sensible not to try too hard.

The Champions quite often don't impress in the group stages.

We'll see what happens next.

There was everything to play for. If Denmark had won and we drew we would be playing Germany at the weekend and we know what that means.

I know it’s fashionable to give the “Ingerland” men’s team a good kicking quite a few of the big teams have yet to perform as advertised…

Certainly Italy struggled and in a way were mighty fortunate two days back.

France certainly haven’t been playing that well and as a result the team and manager are getting a right kicking in the French MSM at the moment.

If say it's the opposite actually. In the men's game club is much more important than country.

Maybe that's the problem. Women footballers are just as passionate about both.

Exactly.

I think, for me, the main criticism was how they kept stopping the flow of the game. They sorted out the issue of possession (don't know what the stats were, but most of the game did seem to be being played in the Slovakian half), but sometimes it was like watching walking football. Any advantage of a break forward was soon lost because the player with the ball just stopped. Defensive play in an attacking position is never going to end up with a win.

At least with the Scottish we know in our heads we are shite but our hearts shout like we belong in brave heart 😂

Yup 🤣 still proud

headstone · 26/06/2024 09:34

The Scottish team , even though they didn’t do well were genuinely devastated when they lost. There just isn’t the same passion with the English players. I also think some of the English songs like the national anthem aren’t very motivating. I hate the abuse the manager and players get though. That needs to stop. It’s only a football tournament and it’s meant to be fun at the end of the day.

Anything to fucking bash the English!

They were crap.

England supporters get so riled up when the team will only end up losing. Cue supporters attacking each other and begin horrific racist slurs on the black player. Most likely many go home and beat their partners too.

What do you think will happen IF they get to the tougher stages and play the likes of Germany or Spain? Its not bashing, its being observant mate

I have a back up favourite team too, I'm still supporting them despite them thrashing us 5-1...heck they even scored our goal for us....🫣

It is quite the same... infact, id argue some of the lionesses have it harder.

Mens football is pandered to for national games, cup games etc. Womens isnt as much yet.

Stop pandering to the mens side, they get paid much more than the women's, have equal time. Probably more because men get catered to much more. They should be fit enough and able to perform with out trying to bash the women's team because they supposedly have more time on their hands.

The schedule for top women's sides is not even close to that of the men. The highest number of matches played by a WSL team last season was Chelsea with 39, the highest number for a PL team was Man City with 59 so 20 more matches for the men.

To give individual examples from each of those squads: Fran Kirby of Chelsea at the age of 30 has played 312 first team matches. Phil Foden of Manchester City is 6 years younger but has already played 307 first team matches. It may change in the future but the men play vastly more football at this point.

Well said, there is no comparison. The women also don't (rightly or wrongly) generate nearly as much money as the men do - sponsorship, ticket sales etc. It is obscene how much footballers get paid, (and fortunately pay tax on) but thats the way it is.

LlynTegid · 26/06/2024 20:21

Much less than the sum of their parts as it were.

Though at least they qualified. Only consolation is that if Wales had been there, probably would have lost every game in their group.
