Happy New Year.

Thought I would start the 2024 thread given there is more political intrigue with the FIA.

2 resignations and one person choosing to not renew their contract. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/67906883

Plus allegedly another ex-Red Bull employee moving to the FIA. https://x.com/silverarrowsnet/status/1744375322131231089?s=46&t=lJm6-66fq4MtGcwwAsK6Kg

Goss becomes third senior figure to quit FIA

Leading engineer Tim Goss leaves his role as the single-seater technical director of motorsport's governing body the FIA.

I'm in!

Off to read the links you're shared...

Thought we'd gone back in time 20 years then!! 🤣

I'm in if it's 2024!!

Sulusu · 08/01/2024 21:02

Thanks for the new thread.

I saw the FIA news just after I finished watching the Brawn documentary on Disney plus. It's intriguing. The politics of F1 might have new people in power positions but the shenanigans seem to stay much the same.

The Brawn documentary was very interesting, I recommend it. I'm a wee bit biased though as Jenson was a big favourite driver of mine. 😊

OhGetFucked · 08/01/2024 21:04

The Brawn doc was really interesting - such big egos everywhere!

I need to sign up to Disney to watch the Brawn documentary - Jenson & Keanu what’s not to like.

I'm a kind of accidental F1 watcher - my DS is a fan - but can thoroughly recommend the Brawn documentary. Even though I am not particularly interested in motorsport I found it well made and the story is very interesting from a human perspective.

declutteringmymind · 08/01/2024 23:40

I'm in! Haven't watched the documentary yet. Not sure if I'm looking forward to 2024- I hope it's not as predictable. Although I have enjoyed the closeness of Merc/ferrari/aston/mclaren.

Still a while to go.

JustLurkingAway · 08/01/2024 23:42

Hello!

Still feels like ages to go!!

Hoping for the same result this year tbh but better & more exciting racing in the process would be idealWink

Tilda77 · 09/01/2024 05:22

Looking forward to the new season. Once Christmas and New year have been and gone the new season is here before you know it. DH is enjoying weekends that aren't dictated by what time the F1 is on. Hoping for a closer battle for the championship this year!

Purplehatty · 09/01/2024 06:49

I’m hoping that McLaren and Mercedes will be much closer to Red Bull or ideally faster 🙏🏻

wite · 09/01/2024 07:26

Thanks for new thread. I'm going to Bahrain and I can't wait

Onthegrid · 09/01/2024 07:43

I’m in for this year, been a F1 fan for many years.

milski · 09/01/2024 09:00

Thanks for the new thread. 44 days still seems like a long time.
I think Red Bull are still going to have a huge advantage going into this year given how early they stopped developing the RB19 to focus on 2024.

I am expecting RB to still be quick but hoping Mercedes, McLaren & Ferrari are closer so we have better racing and different winners.

Sad news about Gil De Ferran.

The technical regulations for 2024 aren't much different from last year so Red Bull are still in a very strong position. The question is whether any of the other teams can close the gap. I hope so, for the sake of competition!

Behind the scenes shenanigans will have to do until it's time to defrost DC and the rest of them.

JimnJoyce · 09/01/2024 10:18

Thanks for the new thread, the start of the season will be here before we know it 🏁🏁

weegiemum · 09/01/2024 10:34

Following along so I have the tiniest notion what dh and ds are talking about until November! They're both huge fans and last year for ds's 21st they went to Spa for the weekend!

So any info I can drop into conversation I'll use!!

LookItsMeAgain · 09/01/2024 11:35

Brilliant that you've started the 2024 thread @Brazilianadventure. 44 Days till pre-season testing...is that a sign for #44????
I think Lewis, Logan and Pierre all celebrated birthdays during the off season.

I would really love to see other teams being closer to RBR this year.

I'm not holding my breath on the former RBR team member joining the FIA...If there was the outcry over Toto and Susie and the lack of impartiality, there really has to be more 'gardening leave' given out to people swapping or changing roles from one season to another (imo).

Sulusu · 09/01/2024 11:43

Isn't Drive to Survive normally out by now?

That will give me something to hate watch, when they over dramatise everything, take things out of context and add fake car sounds 😂

OldTinHat · 09/01/2024 11:51

I'm in too!

Not heard of that documentary but off to watch it now...

WinkyTinky · 09/01/2024 11:56

My kids love the F1, and so do I now. We've just been on holiday and the absolute highlight for them was when we saw a Koenigsegg Regera while in a rush to the airport 😅

wite · 09/01/2024 12:29

Did anyone see the X (Twitter) comments from Adrian Newley's wife in reply to what Christian said about who designed the car? Made me snort
