Anyone else watching? We went to Lord's a couple of nights ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it (go London Spirit) but the DJ music is awful, in real life and on the telly. Anyone else!

Loving it!!@

FinallyMrsE · 17/08/2022 13:15

We went to a northern superchargers game last year and loved it, we can’t go this year as we are on holiday for all of the home games and I was disappointed. I think it’s a great format and adds something to the game for non cricket fans too

Purpleavocado · 17/08/2022 13:17

We've been watching it on Sky, it's good background TV!

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 17/08/2022 13:24

We went to Old Trafford on Saturday and are going to Trent Bridge on the bank holiday Monday. Thoroughly enjoyed Saturdays matches so hoping Trent Bridge will be just as much fun.

I was at Lord's today but not for long 🌧

Has it on today. Mostly the womens game. Thought it was fascinating hearing from on mic Alex Hartley as she was about to bowl.

Prompted me to look up about her and read about the Twitter thing with Rory Burns. Overall made me feel sad about the perception of womens cricket, sport in general despite the womens football success.

I was reading articles from The Daily Mail so not the best source, but the few comments were obviously from unpleasant men. But I can't see how that's going to change any time soon, not until more women watch.

Davros · 24/08/2022 10:25

I'm going to London Spirit v Welsh Fire later. Sadly I think we will miss much of the women's match because we are going to visit DS today. I really enjoyed last night's match, it got very tasty towards the end. Love the Curran brothers

Anyone watching this year? 2023

Watched the Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave women's match this afternoon, Trent Rockets batting didn't get off to a great start did it? She looked furious with her teammate.

Davros · 02/08/2023 00:20

I don't as out tonight so missed it but I'm going tomorrow. I loved The Hundred the last couple of years

I choose to watch proper cricket, not the joke that is The Hundred.

Oooh have fun! Report back on how it was.

Davros · 03/08/2023 10:25

We didn't think there would be any play because of the rain but, as soon as we saw it was starting, I got out of my pyjamas, called a cab and rushed there. Luckily we live reasonably nearby. It was brilliant, we had a great time except we wanted London Spirit to win :(. But it was right down to the wire, very exciting. We will go to all the matches but I think we're away for the Final

Looks like we could get a full programme today!

Liking Alice Davidson Richards and Georgia Wareham contributions so far!

UsingChangeofName · 03/08/2023 16:40

We go to all the games at Edgbaston.
Could REALLY do without the music, but the games over the last 2 seasons have been great.
I don't really have the time / inclintation to watch all the games on TV, until it becomes crucial towards the end.

Davros · 03/08/2023 17:36

I agree, the music is awful but I love the rest of it

Seeline · 03/08/2023 17:42

Love it! It has done so much to boost women's cricket.
I've been watching cricket for getting on for 40 years. It's definitely not test cricket which I really enjoy, but it's the first time I've ever got my family to come along with me - it's our 3rd year going to watch with my 19/21 year olds and they really enjoy it.

Davros · 03/08/2023 18:01

My 20 year old came with me last night

I just can't see the point of it. It's so similar to T20 but more gimmicky.

They (ECB) would have been better pumping more money in to T20 - which can also be fun (and have music).

WestOfWestminster · 05/08/2023 09:58

Yeah I kind of agree that its so similar to the T20, but I love how many children enjoy it with their families and how into it they get.

I wish more of it was on BBC or free TV not sky though.

Lionoso · 05/08/2023 10:07

I love all forms of cricket and would watch the 100 if it wasn't for the awful screen displays. They are way over the top and honestly have triggered a migraine in the past. There have been loads of feedback that they need to change the display but it's been completely ignored, it's a bizarre choice by the BBC.

UsingChangeofName · 05/08/2023 13:44

Yes, it is similar to the T20, but having this 2nd competition means there are a lot more games I can watch, and spread across 5 months or so, which is great.

I really don't understand people who moan about it.

No-one is forcing anyone to go and watch it, but it is virtually sold out across all games here, so that is not only getting loads of people who never watched cricket before, interested and involved, but it is also bring £££££ into cricket on days their stadium would otherwise be empty. Not just ticket money of course, but merchandise, and £££ from catering and so forth.

LlynTegid · 05/08/2023 13:52

@UsingChangeofName Counting to six and counting number of overs is not that difficult but apparently too difficult for some so we only have five.

Any one day 40 or 50 over match, men's or women's (have been to both) involves elements of skill and variety in the game that the joke shorter formats lack.

People can focus for longer than a few minutes.

UsingChangeofName · 05/08/2023 14:00

People can also enjoy variety.

The test series this summer has been just wonderful, but that doesn't stop me enjoying The Hundred as well.

Same as sometimes I listen to a bit of 80s pop music, on other days I can enjoy all sorts of classical stuff in the background when I am working, but every now and then I whack on a bit of Dolly Parton on my 'Country Classics' album.
I personally don't enjoy heavy metal or rap, but I don't feel the need to mock people who do.

LozMo · 05/08/2023 20:07

I'm going to the Hundred at Old Trafford on Monday with work. Any recommendations on attire?? Presuming it's just smart/casual? Help!
Thanks.
