Not looking great for DAS 😕

Dina obviously isn’t 100% right. The commentators were managing expectations before the start, and her time of 11.05 isn’t going to be enough to challenge for medals.

What a shame for her, I hope she’s OK.

Bryonyshcmyony · 31/07/2021 11:26

Yes a real shame. Poor kid. In a way I hope it ends here for her.

No fingernails here…

Wow. Fraser-Pryce 10.73 and nowhere near flat out. She’s amazing.

Bryonyshcmyony · 31/07/2021 11:37

Yes she's a joy to watch

Jamaicans getting all three medals was amazing - shame they seem to hate each other! Would have been lovely to see them celebrating as a team as well as as individuals. But that's sport sometimes, I guess.

SO sad for Dina Asher-Smith.

I'm really surprised by how much jewellery and accessories we're seeing on the athletes - mainly noticed it on the track and the long jump. When it can come down to 100ths of seconds and millimetres I'm surprised it doesn't risk their performance. Or that it isn't dangerous. I saw loads of bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Plus baseball caps and very long hair just in a pony tail. I suppose in a way the Olympics is like being on stage for them - maybe they worry about looking good on camera!

I thought it was quite different from the Jamaican men 100m contesters in London where they seemed to be great pals. Though maybe I'm remembering Rio. It's a shame really though I was wondering what it's like to be competing against your country mate, being from Ireland there's usually just the one athlete in any event (if we have anyone in an event at all!) unless it's a team type event anyway. Though I suppose it's unusual enough for team GB too when it comes to the actual finals rather than the heats part. The Brownlee brothers come to mind, and I think there were two GB sisters in the hurdles heats though in different ones but I don't know if they both qualified?

I love seeing the competitors hugging each other after events - those USA swimmers were delighted for the SA swimmer to make a new world record. Sorry I don't remember their names!

Long nails and bling have been a thing since Flo-Jo in the 80s but it's the false eyelashes that bother me. One falls into your eye mid-run and even the momentary distraction could mean game over!

What a race! Well done team GB and her interview when she cried, she had me in tears of joy.

I thought the same! I am very amateur runner but never run in dangly earrings, and always want my hair plaited or pretty tightly pulled back. I doubt it will make any difference to my performance I just find it annoying!! Didnt seem to slow down the womens100m final, however un-aero they looked!!
