Lululemon versus Sweatie betty

I have realised that I have fallen into the 'buy cheap, buy twice' trap with some of my exercise gear.

H&M look good for quite a while but have a lingering smell that I now can't get rid off. Ditto a top from Sainsburys.

So I'm going to ask for a voucher for Christmas and buy some more expensive, better quality gear.
A friend is still wearing a Lululemon top and leggings that she has had 10 years. Both pieces still look and smell great and I have some Sweaty Betty leggings from ages ago that also still look and feel perfect.

So, which brand shall I go for?

Are you using fabric conditioner or a 2-in-1? If you are, that is your problem.
Soaking the clothes in disinfectant every now and then helps too.

nope, I never use softener for any sports gear. I'll try the disinfectant soak though - thank you

Use a disinfectant that doesn't stink not dettol. That's what I do with mine. I haven't fallen for the lululemon and sweaty betty stuff but occasionally t-shirts (nike, ronhill, adidas) get a bit whiffy.
I soak them overnight in warm water with a splash of cheap disinfectant and they're fine.
