Stand Up Paddleboarding - SE locations

Hi all, I’m super keen to take up stand up paddleboarding, but struggling to identify good locations.
I’m in London and don’t want to paddle in any canals or docks - would rather travel to the coast/use as an excuse for weekend excursions. Also not keen on lessons.
Any ideas? Beaches or coves my first choice, but not sure of good, protected beaches? Also had Cuckmere Haven suggested, but dont know much about it - don’t want to be the only bod in the water.

There MUST be facebook groups. Start ferretting. I'm member of 2 in my region.

Might be easier to start on lake/reservoir, rather than tidal or flowing water. Plenty close to London but winter season tends to be more limited.

You can hire a board in Whitstable. I did a lesson. I know you said you aren't keen but unless you are familiar with the tides and understand tide tables etc it is worth having some instruction. And whilst it is quite easy to pick up my instructor definitely taught me things I wouldn't have done alone.
