Ladies bike recommendations

I am in the market for a new bike and would like some advice if anyone here can help without it all getting too technical.

I used to ride a very light and fast road bike, which I commuted around London on for years (and had a number of crashes in that time.) Now I've moved out of London and have a 2 year old. I've not ridden the road bike for a few years and have just sold it. I've had a bad back for years and am only just now getting on top of this with exercise and some physio sessions. What I really want now in a bike is an upright ladies shopper style bike, but I don't want something that's really heavy, or all about the looks at the expense of quality.

I've looked at the Liv bikes and the Ridgeback Avenida. I'm also now getting targeted ads for Lekker and Veloretti bikes which looks beautiful. Does anyone on here own a fairly lightweight ladies upright bike? I'm not planning any long journeys, I'd just like to be able to collect DD from nursery and pop to the shops. Needs to be able to take a basket and child seat. Can anyone give me any recommendations?

Do you have a budget in mind? Hybrid bikes are great for commuting and casual trips but are a little more heavier than a road bike.

It all comes down to budget really....

I'm 67 (and overweight) and two years ago I bought myself a Dutch style bike as they now seem to be called. Pendleton Somerby from Halfords. £280 now.
Like you, I wanted a lightweight bike and this isn't particularly lightweight but as soon as I tried it I realised it didn't matter as I felt very comfortable with it.

Thanks everyone, my post was a couple of months old and I've since bought a Ridgeback Avenida 6. For the record, I love it, if anyone else is reading this looking for a recommendation.
