sorry Kleptronic, it's an attempt at a push-start for DrTwo or ariadne to get the pre-race tension built with the commencement of a thread for the Vuelta. They may have other more pressing things to do in their lives right now, but the crowds are building around the crush barriers, eating ice cream and waiting for the roll out.

Most of the contenders also did le Tour, no? So they'll all be equally knackered. Would love for Froome to do the double....

The maillot rojo (red jersey) is the equivalent of the Tour de France's yellow jersey.

yes they did - Bertie, The Valve, Quintana, Froomey, the cheating Italian who's name I can't bring myself to type.

Most of them surely if previous hints have been anything to go on. Nothing proven of course...

I mean the bit in the Tour where Froome had a mechanical, Cheating Italian looked round, saw him in trouble, and attacked. And denied it later.
Though yes he rides for a team that is v heavily under suspicion for the more recognised form of cheating.

I am going to try and watch but not sure how successful I'll be. I hardly even watched any of the tour I've missed out on loads this season.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that bit. Did mutter loudly at the TV for that bit.

In our house (well someone else's house in Portugal but we stopped enjoying our holiday every day for the tour of course) when a certain Italian had a puncture 800m in to the Alpe d'Huez the cheer scared the birds for about a 50 mile radius.

Utterly fab m'dears - put some photos up on the Tour thread, from Pyrenees stage, getting a bit close to the big red car for some gendarme's comfort too! When he was haraunging me I almost heard myself say, "But I'm British!"

Being harangued by a gendarme is pretty cool though!

I like your pictures, especially the one where you were leading the peloton . Did the UCI check your basket for a motor? Although now I am pining for next years holiday because we didn't get to France this year.

Just seen that the cyclists have all complained and the Vuelta TTT has been made to not count toward individual cyclists times only the team places because of all the sand. Not sure what I make of that yet.
