Does anyone kayak or canoe?

I did it years ago and loved it. Even got my one star Wink It's something I do on holiday but haven't done it here since.

Just looking for any hints or tips really.

Would like to be a bit more active and spend some time outside. Not very fit and quite overweight but looking to change that. I can swim but would of course wear a life jacket

Interested in the open top kayaks probably. Not convinced I could get back in while in the water if I fell in though! Confused

Also recommendations of places to hire equipment would be great

Can travel from west London, happy to drive up to an hour

Thank you!

Contact your local Scout District or County - they always need people to help with activities like kayaking. Smile

I had a v pleasant Sunday morning canoe last autumn here:

I plan to go again this summer with kids. We hired a double and a single, v helpful, good setup and nice cafe next door!

It's probably an hour round the north circ and then up the A10.

Have a look on the bcu (british canoe union) website for courses/hire places in your area x

Might be worth contacting either Richmond canoe club or Royal canoe club in Teddington
