Wtf is going on with my foot?

Is this a load of verrucas or something else? I thought there was a verucca hiding in there. This week we've been on a beach holiday so my foot has been wet quite a lot, I walked for ages today along the beach in my bare feet so it's all looking a bit softer and rougher than before. I've tried to remove loads of dead skin after a shower at home but obviously never been this thorough before. It's hideous, and also a bit painful right on the edge of my foot.
At least we're going home tomorrow and it will all be hidden under my socks for the next few months.

Yeah they look like verrucas to me 😔

MaryLuu · 14/10/2026 20:59

Yes loads of verrucas

BrickBuilt · 14/10/2026 21:01

Ouch! Yes it looks like veruccas, and the pressure from the root digging in when you walk on it will cause pain

Is each dot a separate verucca I need to treat or do I just paint the verucca ointment on the whole area? I'm in my 50s and believe it or not I've never had a verucca before in my life.

That looks like a cluster of veruccas (called mosaic verucca). They can be treated by covering with duct tape - have a google for recommendations

Looks like when I had clusters of the things in my early 20s. Chiropodist said I could get rid of them at home as quickly and more cheaply than him doing it. Every time I had a bath (would be a shower these days) to rub a pumice stone over them....not to the point of being sore but to remove the dead skin. They cleared up pretty easily and I haven't had any since (many years now).

I counted at least 26. It's a shame you're going home as walking on sand is a good way of exfoliating your feet. Lots of advice from the British Association of Dermatologists including the duct tape method.

Podiatrist here. They are verrucas that appears to be regressing. The red dots are thrombosed capillary loops. There are no ‘roots’ in verrucas. Just keep them covered in shared surfaces so they do not spread to other individuals. Hopefully they will soon go without much intervention.

@Randomchatcan you get to your GP? If it’s hurting you the fastest way is to have the GP freeze them off. I had a stinker of one as a teenager. It took a few blasts to go fully but it went. The ointment wasn’t enough

Randomchat · 15/10/2026 08:46

26! Jeez. I've never had any before that I remember.
I imagine I'll wait 4 years for a GP appointment for veruccas, things are so bad round my way, but there's a really good local podiatrist. I could go see her. Do folk do that or is it a bit of overkill for just a verucca? I thought you just bought liquid in the shop and painted it on at home.

I've also got a cold sore this holiday. Should have stayed at home. Holidays obviously don't agree with me.

If there are any major developments, like a massive crater in my foot or dramatic veruccas falling out I'll update with a photo.

Thanks for your advice
