Gruesome (minor) accident

I chopped the top of my finger off whilst grooming the dog! Bloody new scissors and obviously sharp as f*.
And as I'm on blood thinners it bleed for ages.. the second photo is during a change of dressing on day 2.

Oooooooh. Are you going to get stitches?

I think that needs a stitch!

I did it on Wednesday so too late for stitches.. I had my grandchildren so realistically 4-5 hrs even in minor injuries wasn't realistic.. it stopped bleeding after about an hour and a half and I'm keeping an eye on it.. got special dressings from the chemist.
X nurse so know I probably should have gone but in a tourist area which is experiencing very high waits in all areas of A&E and even Minor injuries.. the dr's didn't want to know..
And I suspect (from experiencing shocking treatment for my adult son recently.. I suspected a DVT and told anyone who would listen, but it was dismissed as highly unlikely..guess what? Cluster of clots behind his knee) I'd have waited to be told no stitches required..

Crumbs, that looks better. You are a fast healer despite the blood thinners.

That is looking better. You're going to have an amazing scab = please post picture of the scab, especially when it gets lovely and crusty.

Lucky for your adult son you were able to advocate for him!!

I will if it scabs. I've used a dressing which has kept it moist (this word makes me cringe!) and I will be using it for a while as the wound is very sensitive and even the slightest knock is incredibly painful (exposed nerve endings?) but I will post if it does...

Why thank you. It's healing well but still throbs like a Tom and Jerry cartoon...
And as an X nurse and someone who had DVTs and multiple PEs (which was critical)I was actually terrified for him. When he eventually got diagnosed his Dr rang me and was interested in my clotting history.. hopefully he'll never get another but it's in his notes now. He's an incredibly sporty healthy young man so it was unusual but my instincts were screaming.

Looking at your latest picture, I think there's a good chance the exposed skin will eventually go hard and once the new skin underneath has formed it will start to peel off from the edges 😍
