Any advice on this gross finger wound?

Scraped my finger a few days ago and it took a layer of skin off, it’s looking a bit yellow and crusty despite using savlon on it and keeping it dry. Would I be mad to scrape the yellow scab out, savlon and try and let it re heal? I’d show you lot the process of course!

Or do I just leave it alone and let my body do its thing Hmm

No you will open it up to infection . Is it dry and normal temperature?

Sounds like it’s healing underneath although I would be hard pressed not to squeeze out the pus!

It’s a bit weepy and red around the outside but doesn’t feel hot

Keeping it dry is out of date, that needs a proper dressing as it’s just going to constantly get reinfected. Wounds need a moist environment to heal.

Seems to started to have signs of infection after leaving it to air & using savlon, temptation to dig it out has increased Blush

Do not squeeze it.

Wash, pat dry, dress with something like Inadine from the pharmacy.

Don't put savlon on it.

Mkntuornthe infection - if there is spreading redness or you feel unwell, consider antibiotics.

I had a cut that I neglected and Brulidine Antiseptic and Antibacterial Cream was excellent
