My dd5 had grommets back in February. One fell out 2 weeks ago, followed by an infection in her ear drum. She now has another ear infection and just pulled her grommet from her ear in all its waxy glory. Enjoy 😊

Oooh, lovely😍

I hope your DD's ear infection clears up. I had one a couple of weeks ago and had to use drops, I hoped my ear might yield something interesting afterwards but sadly not.

Thank you! We've had a tough time with her ears over the last couple of years, between glue ear and hearing loss. Grommets have helped with both. Unfortunately since the first grommet fell out she's been in constant pain. Hopefully they'll start to get better.

I hope your ears are better now.

Yes, thank you - it was a straightforward infection and a week of antibiotics cleared it up. That sounds very tough for your DD, I hope it's something that improves over time, it's more common in children than adults, I understand?

I hope her ear infection clears up.

Ooooh! So that's what a grommet looks like!

When my DS was about 9, he was at A&E for something completely unrelated to his ears, but for some reason the Dr decided to look in his ears before we went home. She did a double-take, then asked me if he had grommets. "Em, nope", said I. Dr had another look, and said, "It's just that there's something small and round in there". "Ah!, said DS, "that'll be a Hama bead!" "A HAMA BEAD!!!" said I. "What's a Hama bead?" said the Dr (she was very young and happily unaware of such things). DS then explained that during school assemblies he'd put little things in his ears, and shake them back out again, to pass the time!

It was an orange Hama bead, and it had probably been in his ear for about 4 years. It was extremely waxy. Sadly, I didn't take a photo.

Yes, they're very small. We didn't even know the first one fell out until she had a ear infection. Then 2 weeks later, and more antibiotics, she felt something in her ear and came running to show me 🤣 She put it in her tooth fairy tin for the grommet fairy 🤣 It's now in her memory box, sealed in sellotape.

My sister used to like sticking things up her nose when she was little 🤣

Love the grommet fairy!

She didn't leave a coin like the tooth fairy, she left a brain rot plushy 🤣
