Hello everyone,
I have posted on mumsnet recently, but someone said to post on sporner corner. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant. Had a normal 12 weeks scan ( end of march). Have been very anxious during this pregnancy due to infertility and recurrent miscarriages. After my last MC I am now pregnant after 3 years. So I am surprised, but anxiety is through the roof. My miscarriages ended with pain and bleeding before 10 weeks.
I had a Barothlin's cyst in Sept 2023 located on my left vaginal wall confirmed by gp, I was given a course of Antibiotics which did nothing, I tried the warm baths and compression the cyst never formed a head or tip instead with the warm compress it grew to a massive lump where I could not even stand up or sleep I was in agony ended up in A&E after many hours to have it cut and drained, but was told it can come back.

I shave down there ( which in the future I will never do again will stick with hair removal cream). I shaved on Thursday and the next day Friday I was at work and I could feel a stinging sensation and soreness around my vagina I didn't think much of it, but in the evening I gently touched the area and just my luck there is a small lump on my left side low vaginal flap. The gp had a look yesterday and said looks like BC but small and has given antibiotics. I can also feel pain on my right side, so I thought it's probably when I am walking the lump is rubbing onto my right side. Had a feel and just to think things can get any bad I had a small spot/ bump near my upper inside thigh area near my anus and outside of my vagina. I know it is most likely from a razor burn or injury. I would put up pics but the locations are near impossible. I can walk but when I walk there is pain when I bend to pick something up it hurts. They haven't got bigger in the past 4 days but are not healing. I have started the warm compress just yesterday as I was so reluctant to do this as previously in 2023 it just made things ten times worse. For now the warm compress provides temporary relief I have applied sudocream continuously for the past 4 days. The only thing gp said is that if it gets bigger or more pain then go to A&E as I am pregnant. I just don't know what else I can use which is safe during pregnancy. I will carry on with the warm compress with water and cotton pads. But I am wondering if it gets bigger with no head/tip can it actually just settle down without popping? Because in 2023 the warm compress just made the cyst grow in size that's it. Please if anyone can provide support what I could do you? Sorry for the long post had to explain everything.

So have a BC on the left vaginal side & a small spot/bump on area located outside of vagina and near anus on the right side both since last Friday. I think shaving must have been a trigger for the right side spot 😞

The warm compress makes it bigger because it's drawing the infection to the surface... that's literally the point. It's meant to make it bigger.

I'm not sure what you're asking, it sounds like you have a clear treatment plan? If you body doesn't resolve it by itself then you will need antibiotics and/or to have it drained. This is even more important in pregnancy as you really do not want to become unwell with a systemic infection that spreads from a localised start point.

And yes it plus the other spot will have been caused by shaving- DON'T! Wax or laser only.

I've been having these on and off for 20 years. They almost always follow the course that you describe - antibiotics don't touch them and it just gets bigger and bigger until it's unbearable. I used to seek medical help at that point, but these days I can usually get it to pop itself once it's big enough. I'd recommend applying a VERY hot flannel to the area, hot as you can stand. The heat and abrasion from the flannel can help to bring it to a head once it's ready. Horrible things, you have my sympathy.

@TheQuietestSpace
Thank you for your reply. I will carry on with the warm compress as I only started doing this yesterday and see how things go. I learnt my lesson with shaving will stick with hair removal sensitive cream instead.

@KittensSchmittens
I can't imagine having these on and off for 20 years. I had the BC once in 2023 when it grew very big I mean the pain was horrendous and I couldn't move much at all felt nauseous and had high BP. It's just being pregnant and to reach 14 weeks with a normal 12 weeks scan I was slightly relieved, but these 2 things are just scaring me. I will try to relax as stressing too much will make me more aware about them. I will continue with the warm/hot compress from now on. Will update how I go just praying they settle without me going to A&E .thank you
