Random raw skin thing - ideas?

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 12/03/2025 20:00

So I realised my skin on my stomach felt wet and assumed I'd spilt something...

Its like a burst blister thing?? And some lumpy skin around it??

Any idea? I don't remember doing anything to it... 😳

(some of the flakiness I think might be where the plaster was.)

Could it be an allergie to jeans button or similar?

YamsVsEggplants · 13/03/2025 00:06

*allergy

glitterturd · 13/03/2025 00:19

I had similar and it was where a jeans zip had rubbed causing a blister. It took ages to heal.

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 13/03/2025 06:07

It's to the right of my belly button. Sort of half between belly and side. I'm rather large (but losing!) so have around belly.

I wear leggings mainly (as large! On Mounjaro and losing though so hope to wear other things longer)

So yes no obvious thing like a button or a zip. It looks like a large blister (bit bigger than a 50p piece and after a day isn't scabbing it's more open. There's bumps around it.

I've realised I think I've developed an allergy though as the big gauze pad I had on it was self adhesive and now it's raised around where the edge of the pad was!!! I took an antihistamine and have put instead one of those weird blister healing plasters on it. I can't leave it "to the air" as it's under my leggings and raw.

I have no idea. I feel I should have noticed soemthing rubbing /getting burnt /something??

OP posts:
GoldfinchesInTheTree · 13/03/2025 06:08

I fear it might take ages to heal as not exposed to air and in an awkward place and large and open 😬

OP posts:
GoldfinchesInTheTree · 13/03/2025 06:08

This one shows the rectangle around it from what looks like allergy to the adhesive??

I would get that looked at in all honesty. You could always go to see a pharmacist first. Random holes should not appear in your belly!
This is coming from a woman who popped a cyst on her nethers this week by herself. I'm very much a diy health care gal

I would also want to get it looked at, agree with a pp, random oozing holes isn't normal. I do agree it looks like a reaction to the adhesive though, my sister has that and post surgery it caused blisters under the dressing.
Can you try a dab of antiseptic, a low adherent dressing and make a pad with something bigger and try and get it held in place with your leggings? Or if you are home alone, just push your leggings down under your belly and wear a loose top. Or a dressing gown or something.

And id leave it uncovered totally at night.

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 13/03/2025 21:49

They really shouldn't should they!?

I think it does look like a friction blister but I can't for the life of time think where I would have got it. And it's on my "chub". It in a crease...

I've but a blister plaster on it (after I reacted to the gauze one??? I've never reacted to a dressing before) and was thinking I'd give it a few days to heal

If it still looks odd I will go see someone.

That looks like some kind of chemical burn. Show it to a pharmacist or doctor, but in the meantime, cover it with one of those special massive plasters that heal - I think they are called colloid dressings?

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 13/03/2025 22:28

I have no idea how I would have done that.

I put one of those colloid ones on this morning and it's quite nice to have the white bubble that appears!

Its very odd. I am not able to get away from work tomorrow but I could Monday. Although my Dr's you seem to need to book 4 weeks in advance... I might ring Monday.

I don't like it 😬

You can walk into any pharmacy and get advice though. I wouldn't wait till Monday id be getting that seen tomorrow.

HipHipWhoRay · 13/03/2025 23:02

Could it be related to a Mounjaro injection site?

Really? It's not got any worse. It's currently covered up by one of those magic blister plasters (apart from the rectangle where it decided it was allergic to the adhesive gauze thing)

I did ring the Dr's after work Friday so I do have a provisional nurse app on Monday for "if it hasn't cleared up."

The blister plasters stay on for forever (so I haven't looked at it since) .. But the reason I rang the Dr's eventually was I was worried if I started to peel it off it might tear the skin at the edge where it reacted 😳.

Is it an urgent thing? What could a pharmacist actually do other than five a different dressing. Now I've got a different one in I'm a bit reluctant to take it off to show someone (I assumed the nurse would be the best at wound care if its still weird then).

Id like to have shown someone Friday tbh if I hadn't been working.

If it’s in a crease I suspect it’s a combination of low level constant rubbing and dampness/lack of air. I think definitely talk to someone about how best to help it heal. But I’d wait for the nurse appointment.

Is it one of those clear film blister things? If you can see it yourself and its not looking bigger, deeper, more inflamed or oozing then I wouldn't stress too much.
But I wouldn't just cover it and not look.

Edited

No not in a crease that's the weirdest thing. It's on the top of the "bump" of my tummy if you imagine a pregnant bump (I'm not pregnant but have a belly). I'd actually have been more concerned to get seen if it was as I'd worry about sweat and infection and things.

It is but they work by making an opaque white patch (the ooze reacts with the dressing to make like a bubble/padding ) so you can't see through it!

This is yesterdays photo - you can see my blister plaster and clearly the rectangle where it reacted to the previous dressing (!!).

Sorry, misunderstood. So yes, less of an infection worry then if not in a crease but also more of a puzzle as to how it happened. You’ve not been playing with acid recently? 😁

GoldfinchesInTheTree · 15/03/2025 06:50

Re injection site. I'm not 100% sure whether it isn't but I rotate so it would have been, from 2 or 4 weeks ago if it was.

Its quite a large blister/hole though and it wasn't itchy before. But maybe it went manky??

Not to my knowledge....!

It did look like a friction burn/burn.. But I have no idea how. I'm usually quite covered up too!

Hmm so here's today's picture. I actually now think this hydrocolloid plaster is going to "fill up" and need to come off before I see the nurse Monday isn't it 😬😬.

I'm not too sure what I do as the red (what I think is reaction to the adhesive dressing I tried) hasn't gone down.

So I can't put another adhesive dressing on it...

And this one I've noticed is a bit weird round the edge so I was going to leave it to a nurse to take off.

We're going for a long walk this afternoon. I really don't think I should have it exposed and actually not sure what to take...

I think once they "fill up" you should take them off!! (I've only used them for actual blisters before not blister-wounds.)
