I've been doing higher risk or full contact sports in some form or another since I was 5 - horse riding, rugby, martial arts - and as it turns out I shouldn't have been doing any of it (and won't be any more). I have something called a left cranial fossa subarachnoid cyst near the base of my skull that ruptured following a particularly hard knock and caused a build up of fluid and a bleed on the brain behind my left eye.
Over the last 3 weeks I've had so much pain, vomiting, eyesight and balance issues, CT scans, eye exams, an MRI, and on Monday a very nice neurosurgeon at the local teaching hospital drilled two holes in my skull, rinsed things out a bit, stapled the scalp shut and left a drain in for a couple of days to let the pressure levels sort themselves out, and I thought to myself 'who do you show photos of this kind of thing to?'
😁 Sporners of course!
