Could this just have come out of my ear?

Sitting in the office and take a bite of my shortbread and feel this weird sensation in my ear - like something has flown into it.

So I flap around for a minute and stick my finger in and DO feel something which I proceed to flick out.

I’m looking around for a fly and can’t see anything but when I look on the floor I find this. The smaller piece was attached but broke off when I investigated it.

Could this really have come out of my ear? Could the feeling of something flying into it actually have been the feeling of this emerging from deep within?

Could this just have come out of my ear?

Certainly possible that the jaw action involved in biting could dislodge dry wax or something from your ear, I imagine. What is it made of? Is it hard?

It was errr … mashable? I won’t post the pic of that!

I dream of this day

I agree with PP, it sounds like you chewing somehow dislodged a blob of old dry earwax? Unless someone threw that blob across the office and it went in your ear which seems unlikely! Could it be earwax do you think?

Itsputmeoffmyshortbread · 16/12/2024 11:11

I really think it must be. I’ve googled ‘ear wax ball’ and some of the pics have an uncanny resemblance.

That ear always has been quite waxy.

I am impressed at my body making that little ball and then just pinging it out at me 😁

You know what board you're on, right?

minipie · 16/12/2024 11:18

For a horrible moment I thought you’d used the paperclip to get it out.

JoyeuxNarwhal · 16/12/2024 11:46

Yep, could well have come from your ear. Are you hearing better now?

Ayechinnyreckon · 16/12/2024 11:53

Yes, looks exactly like an ear wax ball I had come out my ear.

I mushed it up and smelled it and it smelled and looked just like old ear wax.

(Dearest reader, fear not, I did then wash my hands).

CreationNat1on · 16/12/2024 12:16

My goodness, my ears have just popped.

Itsputmeoffmyshortbread · 16/12/2024 12:21

My ex-BIL was a GP. A woman came to him with a similar sensation in her ear; he took a peek and saw a tick!! Deep inside!

She fainted when he told her.

Wax builds up relatively quickly in my left ear; I pay to have it microsuctioned every couple of months. Not once has the bloody wax dislodged itself!

DogInATent · 04/01/2025 00:03

My ears occasionally do this. I feel the ball of wax drop into the outer ear.

CharlotteCChapel · 04/01/2025 12:57

I get these rather regularly but mine are orange (ish)

sneakssneakssneaks · 13/01/2025 13:55

Happens to me sometimes, minding my own business when I feel some wax suddenly drop in my ear

RareMaker · 13/01/2025 14:01

I've had these too!
