Can anyone shed some light on how to get rid of this on my inner thigh?

It started as a spot after thigh rub 🙈 but it has just got worse and more sore.

It's raised and red on the outside but a flat scab in the middle.

I did an online pharmacy consultation and got prescribed daktacort but it hasn't helped.

Picture attached, the white is from the sudocrem I slapped on it this morning

Hot flannel over and over until it’s softened enough to squeeze

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 13/07/2024 08:48

Use a blister plaster. There's probably a hair or something in there. A blister plaster will keep it moist and clean, stop irritation and allow the hair to grow through.

Hydrocolloidal plasters stay on several days, don't change it until it falls off.

You are incredible UR to not have squeezed it already.

thighboilouch · 13/07/2024 12:08

Thanks for the advice!

I've put hot flannel on it and gave it a squeeze, nothing came out just made it more sore!

Got some of those plasters to put on it now

Doh! I thought it might mean Urge-Resistant.

Glass bottle run under a hot tap until bottle is warm.

Place open end over boil and hold down to make sure the bottle is in full contact with surrounding skin.

As the glass cools down a vacuum is created inside the bottle and it acts to draw out the contents of the boil.

Repeat as many times as possible until it's all drawn out.

The relief will be tremendous.

Has anyone any more advice on this boil?

I saw the GP on Monday and they prescribed Fucidin, to be applied 3 times a day. It's not getting any better in fact it looks to be getting worse!

Have you been trying soaking it in hot water? Also magnesium sulphate cream?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/07/2024 19:21

You might need oral antibiotics and to give the area a chance to not rub - a large wound dressing will stop it being irritated by your other leg, too.

I don't think it's a squeezable one, it's almost (if not actually) more of an infected ulcer needing more than a cream that the bacteria might not even be sensitive towards.

Isabelle70 · 19/07/2024 19:34

When I had a boil on my arm I was advised to soak it in the bath for long periods of time to keep the skin moist and help drain anything out.

thighboilouch · 19/07/2024 19:38

Thanks everyone, forgot to mention I do put a large wound dressing on it during the day as the seam of clothes aggravates it more.

GP's advice was to keep it as dry as possible, cover it during the day to prevent irritation and to use the fucidin but it's not helped at all, been using it now 5 days

Unsure whether to go to the out of hours GP for antibiotics tonight or if to wait until Monday

I agree with PP I think you need a dressing to reduce the area being rubbed by your other thigh. You could probably find something over the weekend in local pharmacy but it may also need oral antibiotics. Keep an eye of the area and if it feels hot or large area of redness I'd be getting it looked at.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 20/07/2024 06:14

I’d go back on Monday, but keep an eye out for swelling/heat and go out of hours if you get that.

I’d think it needs a swab to be honest. And oral ABs according to what they find.
