Do boils normally get more painful as they come to a head?

So I have a boil in a place I can't see 😂but I can feel it, it's generally been a bit sore the last day or so but tonight is really rather painful I've been bathing in Epsom salts, hot compresses ect is this increased pain a sign it might burst tonight, it definitely feels more squishy?

Yes you need to let it get to pop stage and then it will feel a lot better once it bursts.

Whilst on the subject. Is a boil the same as an abcess? Medically speaking?

I have no idea lol. All I know is I want to bloody thing to burst 😂

I thought an abscess was an infected boil. It's beyond just a boil.
