Anyone know what this could be??

I thought a wart and have been using bazooka for 2 weeks now, not sure if it's actually doing anything

That looks awfully painful!

StillWantingADog · 24/11/2023 10:35

Omg. Have you had it properly looked at? Is it going to be taken away? I’m not sure how you’ve managed with it this long op!

Mooovingonout · 24/11/2023 10:38

Gp appointment on 11th dec

It looks as if there is a foreign body in there. Have you been gardening? Do you have pets? Are you a hairdresser?

The teeniest of cut in your finger could have allowed a bit of hair or similar to get and then it will become infected. Your antibiotics for other things should help. See if the chemist will give you something like magnesium sulphate paste to draw out the pus and hopefully it will bring the foreign body with it!!!!!

experiential · 24/11/2023 10:44

See if you can bring that appointment forward. Get on the phone at 8am every morning to your GP. Good luck

LaurieStrode · 24/11/2023 11:06

Didn't they evaluate it in A&E?

It needs to be seen with some urgency. Sepsis can be deadly.

Mooovingonout · 24/11/2023 11:16

No I went to a&e for something else, they weren't concerned about my finger. Didn't even want to look at it.

pickledandpuzzled · 24/11/2023 11:21

But they swabbed it and prescribed abs for it, heavy duty ones too! You may feel like crap on that lot. Do pay attention to the ‘not on an empty stomach’ ones. I felt so bad on those because I wasn’t timing it right.

Mooovingonout · 24/11/2023 11:24

It was swabbed by a nurse at my surgery over a week ago, she said it wasn't infected but swabbed it to be safe.

Antibiotics were prescribed Wednesday at hospital for something else.

Have an appointment on 11th to see gp. No doctors have looked at the lump yet

Can you send a picture to the gp ? I'd want that looked at asap.

DugInLikeAnAlabamaTick · 24/11/2023 11:26

could it be a cancer?

RudsyFarmer · 24/11/2023 11:28

That looks like your finger’s trying to grow another digit. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I did when it was smaller and saw a nurse, I've sent these latest ones in today and asked to see a gp sooner. Fingers crossed they think it needs looking at sooner.

Ouch. Hope so much someone takes it seriously soon.

RedRobyn2021 · 24/11/2023 11:56

I hope they see you sooner, I'm shocked they're delaying

They're not "delaying" 🙄they're not actively avoiding the OP

MBappse · 24/11/2023 14:51

So sorry doctors you were face to face with at A and E weren't interested/wouldn't even look. That is SHOCKING!... I'd be at the GP, banging on the door this afternoon. Huge hugs OP. Xxx

MBappse · 24/11/2023 14:52

Also you need to take the doctor name out of your photo..... does it say "no further action" for this growth... ie antibiotics not needed?

MaddieElla · 24/11/2023 15:22

Does that say there is pseudomonas present? My daughter picked up an infection in Spain from the pool. Took antibiotics for the infection but she also had a secondary infection of pseudomonas. This couldn't be treated with antibiotics and she needed to be referred and it had to be physically removed (was in her ear).

DottyMacaroon · 25/11/2023 09:40

sorry OP but given how much it is changing I’d go to A&E.

StillWantingADog · 25/11/2023 10:37

I’d be at a&e at this point. This is not something to wait 2 weeks for a gp for! Or physically go to the gp Monday morning and wave it in the eye of the receptionist. I know they’re busy but this 100% has to be looked at. Even if harmless it looks very uncomfortable and if it suddenly burst could make a right mess

I did a reverse image search and found this photo and caption

Jewelspun · 25/11/2023 10:51

Further to my last post

Pyogenic granulomas are small, raised, and red bumps on the skin. The bumps have a smooth surface and may be moist. They bleed easily because of the high number of blood vessels at the site. It is a benign (noncancerous) growth. Pyogenic granulomas are skin lesions that can develop after an injury.

Jewelspun · 25/11/2023 11:35

How do you treat pyogenic granulomas at home?

You apply petroleum jelly (for example, Vaseline®) around the pyogenic granuloma to protect your skin and then sprinkle table salt on to the lump. You can then cover the area with a plaster and repeat every day until the salt dries out the lump and makes it shrink down.

Frazzledandfried · 26/11/2023 08:48

Yeah looks like a pyogenic granuloma. You need a dermatology referral for removal. I'd keep on with GP, ask every day for an urgent same day appt.
