My son has this huge boil on his nose. It has been there a week. It has never had a clear head on it and if uncomfortable. He has quite greasy spotty skin despite only being 10 years old. It hasn't got smaller over the course of the week. Obviously I'm desperate to start ferreting around in it with a sterile needle but he is not having that, is it something that would benefit from a medical opinion?

It's worth trying magnesium sulphate or hot compresses to bring it to a head.

Rather than buy mag sulph paste, we often use own brand sudocrem which contains it. Often good for calming our spots down too.

I would stick a hydrocolloid dressing on that.

Hot bath then give it a good squeeze.

DS went to looked at it in the mirror and gave it a gentle prod and the erupted! It was a disgusting mess of blood and pus which I was banned from photographing! And we have an appt to see Dr to ensure its okay and have a general chat about his skin. Thanks for asking. Apologies for failing on the picture front.
