Belly button has been super itchy. I'm a bitConfused about sticking things in it, it so cleaning has to date been cursory. Anyhow, this morning I was being driven mad with itch, got my husband to investigate. Obviously needed to see for myself, so I share with you now...Grin
I'm such a dirt bag 😕

I've ask him to investigate further with tweezers to see if he can get the white maggoty looking thing out, but he has declined. Lightweight.

Any ideas I what to do with it?

Ow!

Can you wash with saltwater and cotton wool?

You really need to clean it.

I had a pain in my abdomen a couple of times, caused by an infection in the bottom of the tummy button. It wasn't visible, but it was all going on underneath.

It cleared with saltwater cleans and a hairdryer a couple of times a day.

You can't ignore it, you need to clean it then dry with a cool hairdryer. Repeatedly.

Is that reddish T around your belly button normal for you? If not, then, together with the itch, it could be a final infection.

Aparecium · 13/08/2023 12:45

Fungal! Fungal infection, not final!

HarrietPoole · 13/08/2023 12:54

Thank you for clarifying 😂😂

I have gone in with saltwater and cotton buds, Pickled. I really want to squeeze or tweeze the whit thing, but my physical limitations are preventing this 😕

Well done! Honestly, cotton wool and salt water is amazing. No need to squeeze!

But do dry it with a hair dryer!

Mine gets damp and cheesy but the hair dryer sorts it out straight away.

In fact, the dog tells me when it's starting a good day before I'd ever notice.

Looks like you've got yourself an umbolith OP!

Fullofpudding · 13/08/2023 19:12

It looks very angry and wet! Hopefully a good clean will dry it out.

How often did you do the salt water thing before it cleared up?

A final infection. The start of the end of civilisation as we know it Grin

pickledandpuzzled · 15/08/2023 21:23

Three times a day, blow dried every time.

After a few days it lessens, so twice a day. You'll know when it's safe to stop.

BrennieGirl · 15/08/2023 21:38

What’s your address OP? I’ll be around with my tweezers asap.

pickledandpuzzled · 16/08/2023 09:00

How are you @HarrietPoole ? If it's not settling, you need to see GP.

My surgery triages through e-consult. I've sent photos. Waiting for GP to call back. I suspect I need someone with tweezers to hoik the brown thing out, as @BrennieGirl suggested.
