Verruca, boil, wart or stuck splinter/thorn?

What is this on my finger? It’s really sore and looks yellow (pus?) round a central dark spot.

Have you been gardening recently. I sometimes get the tiniest splinters when gardening, so tiny that I don't notice them until/unless they get mildly infected
